More On The Lancet

The folks at the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count, a left-wing anti-war group whom I have quoted regularly, have recently condemned The Lancet's irresponsible and inflammatory numbers as political and non-scientific.

Of course they are. If you just look at them they're nuts. They require you to believe that for every coalition death there are over 200 Iraqis killed. That's just madness. Our boys would have to be over there cutting down crowds of people with machine guns and bombs every day for that to even be remotely true.

All you need to know about The Lancet is that it has ceased to be a scientific publication and is now nothing but a left-wing anti-American, anti-British hate-rag. Just look at what their chief editor Dr. Richard Horton, recently said:

Until Horton resigns in disgrace and/or is cashiered, The Lancet can no longer be considered a scientific publication. The Lancet is now a laughingstock.

Climate Change Deniers

Interesting to see that some are proposing to outlaw global warming skepticism.

Global warning "denialists" are the equivalent of holocaust denialists. Gotta love it.

An Old Familiar Tune

Celia's got a remarkable article on modern-day scientific dissidence. The opening paragraphs are right here, but I recommend making the time to sit down and read the complete PDF at the bottom. Every page of it's worth reading--especially as regards the increasingly corrupt nature of the "peer review" process in funding grant applications, which is clearly broken in more than one area of the sciences

. (Peer review itself isn't broken, but the "peer review" of funding is. Not everywhere, but in multiple fields.)

Oncogene Theory

It only makes sense that complex organisms would evolve and maintain hundreds of potentially lethal genes. Why not?

Update: Read this book.
