Being that I grew up in India, I always used to wonder why India, until about the mid-90's, wasnt an American ally. Of course, prior to that, India was more-or-less a Soviet client state. However, once the Congress party ( mostly, opportunistic, corrupt socialists wannabees) was kicked out for good, India has been making strides towards becoming a true liberal democracy. Which, I am happy about.
One thing though, despite the lack of sophistication, and despite lacking the law-enforcement expertise of either the USA or the UK, I think the Indians might stand a better chance of extirpating Islamofascist movement on the subcontinent. And the reason for this is something that I dont know whether to be enthusiastic about or not. That is, the Indian Govt at both the State and Federal level are not averse to using torture, or, their readiness to put curbs on the leftist press as well as NGOs, that are pro-terrorist. Say for example, in India, the likes of Cindy Sheehan, Daily Kos, and othe terrorist supporters lk ewe have in the USA dont exist for long. This might win the war against muslim terrorists, but, what will it do to Indian society in the long run? I wonder
