So does it mean that I'm telekinetic if I can remotely move my fingers just by sending impulses from my brain? This doesn't really seem all that different from shocking a nerve and getting muscles to move in response.

The point is that the monkey is able to make robotic arms hundreds of miles away move entirely with its brain. Which means soon humans will be able to do such things. It's practical telekinesis provided by technology.

At the risk of sounding like an old curmudgeon, I submit because nothing remotely like telekinesis as used in the pop-paranormal convention occurred, people shouldn't be calling it that.

Telekinesis is historically generally considered to be the ability to move objects through the use of mind-power (thoughts) *alone*.

What the monkey is doing is "remote manipulation" using a "neural interface" of some sort.
