God bless her soul. God blessed America by her being one of us. Indeed, a true heroine, a fighter for freedom. And all she wanted was a seat on a bus.

I give more than a moment of silence for the memory of this great woman. This great American woman. Who, more than most people I can ever think of, comes to mind when I say,

"One man or woman of courage constitutes a majority."

What she did for african-Americans in the southern states goes goes almost beyond measure. And in the fullness of time, she shall be recognized as well in what she did for white southern Americans. The revolution that she sparked that day on a city bus in Birmingham, Alabama, eventually freed my fellow white Americans from the slavery of racial segregation. Because it is self-evident that all forms of slavery, in the end, rob freedom and its glorious dignities in like measure from the slave holders as well as from the slaves.

Think on that, all of you.

I can only say that I envy you for having said it all so much better than I or anybody else did. Thank you.

Rosa Parks: Woman and a half.

She did it in 1955, the year I was born.
