Dean's World

Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy.

Being Al-Zawahiri

Imagine, you go to all this trouble to send a letter of advice to your incompetent troops who are screwing everything up, and when they don’t like what it says, they not only don’t send you the money you asked for, they pretend you didn’t even send the letter. That’s not just disloyal, that’s downright disrespectful. Man, you just can’t get good help anymore.

Meanwhile, not only are the vast majority of the umma rejecting your vision and embracing the false idol of self-governance, hundreds of thousands of the faithful you’re relying on as the future foot soldiers of your empire continue to inexplicably enlist with their infidel oppressors despite your having made it very clear this is not acceptable behavior, those few that are loyal continue to lose and lose and lose, and the necessary basic materials to restore the caliphate are getting harder and harder to come by.

And Cubs fans think they have it bad.
