Overall I find Yahoo to be the best of the services, since it has all the features of the other two and one or two they don't. So I hope MSN will adopt their features.
Right now I use Trillian which lets me be on all three services at once in one program. I'd rather see something where everybody could just interoperate with everybody else though, it would be less hassle that way.
Programs like Trillian and GAIM are just stopgaps-- you still have to have an account with each of the majors that you want to use. When Yahoo! and MS join up, you’ll only need one account to use both networks...
Of course, then Trillian could simply become an “interface” program, dedicating themselves to making features easier to find and better implemented...
I wonder how MSN and Yahoo could entice SBC into the deal...
