Molly Ivins Is Not A Complete Idiot

Well, I am impressed. It appears that Molly Ivins is not a complete idiot after all.

I'm impressed.

It's a start, but I'm still waiting for her to retract the part about time travel, along with every other opinion she's expressed over the years which was based in part on her belief that Saddam had only killed 20,000 of his own people.

Very good, but Xrlq wrote:

"No, seriously, she did, and without the usual neoclintonian caveats or they-a culpas one might normally expect under circumstances like this. She did explain how she arrived at that conclusion, but made no excuses for it. For someone like Ivins to apologize so thoroughly is beyond the usual “man bites dog” story; it’s more like “man gets down on all fours, humps a dog’s leg and sniff’s another dog’s butt.” You just don’t see this stuff every day (I hope)."

Now, what would Santorum have to say about that?

I still wonder how the hell she got her job in the first place.

There are probably 40-50,000 Americans who can turn a phrase as well as Molly.

And some of them are commenting here. It would take at least 40-50,000 Molly Ivinses to equal one Arnold Harris.

Sorry, but Molly's response just confirms her state of idiocy. This was not a typo or a trivial statistical discrepancy about the price of beans in Peru. To comment about Saddam and the war without realizing Saddam killed upwards or a million people is just unbelievably ignorant.

The first (and last) time I ever read this Molly Ivins was when she wrote a stupid attack on Camille Paglia in the socialist Mother Jones.

I'm shocked. I stopped reading anything she wrote long ago. It all became "I hate George Bush; George Bush is an idiot; I hate George Bush." Now she has to take a different tack and say "George Bush is not as bad as Saddam Hussein - but he's still a devil." A bit better, I'll admit.
