Dean's World

Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy.

Happy Birthday

Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday dear Dean
Happy birthday to me.

39. The last year of my youth.

* Update * ...and if you happen to know any literary agents who'd like to see a totally original and sure-to-be-a-bestseller novel, please let me know. ;-)

Happy B-Day, Dean! My daughter's is today (still the 14th here in the NW), mine was the 12th, my brother's the 5th, my bro-in-law's the 6th, and I work with 4 other moon children.

October must be a really loving and fertile month.

Happy birthday, Dean.

From my perch at age 42, I can tell you life will really begin about one year from now... At about the same time, I expect you will become a fan of movie soundtracks, as I have. Indeed, the first signs of this transition appeared here recently, I believe.

And I note you've already got a headstart on the mid-life novel-writing phase. I'm behind you there, still mulling possible storylines...

Well, anyway, life is good. Enjoy your birthday.

End of youth at 39? Keep an open mind, and never sell out to falsehood, and you will be as youthful at 70 as your were when you were an innocent child in your mama's arms.

Happy birthday, Dean.

Birthdays are a meaningless anachronistic throwback to the primitive pre-'sphere days. Blogiversaries are much more relevant and worthy of celebration in these modern times.

Plus, I've always wondered about that "many happy returns" phraseology. Shouldn't you enjoy the gifts, rather than cynically returning them?

Just remember, your body came with a 39 year warranty.

Tomorrow you'll begin to go blind, ache in muscles you didn't know you had, have great difficulty getting out of low chairs, and forget why you walked into a room about 10 times a day.

Just to keep your spirits up. :)

Happy Birthday, Buddy.
