Thoughts From Muslim Leaders

Quoted from the Free Muslim Coalition:

Terror Strikes London

July 7, 2005

Free Muslims Coalition

(Washington, D.C., 7/7/05) The Free Muslims Coalition (FMC), a national Muslim organization with 15 chapters world wide, condemns the London terror attacks and calls on the silent majority of Muslims to stand up against the terrorists who commit evil in their name.

Again, the world has to witness another terror attack where innocent people are killed, and lives destroyed. Not surprisingly, a group calling itself "The Secret Organization of Al Qaeda in Europe" has posted a claim of responsibility for the series of blasts in London. The statement of responsibility was published on a Web site that stated: "Rejoice, Islamic nation. Rejoice, Arab world. The time has come for vengeance against the Zionist crusader government of Britain in response to the massacres Britain committed in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahedeen carried out a blessed attack in London, and now Britain is burning with fear and terror, from north to south, east to west. We warned the British government repeatedly. We have carried out our promise and carried out a military attack in Britain after great efforts by the heroic mujahedeen over a long period to ensure its success." "We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all crusader governments that they will receive the same punishment if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan."

This statement shows that the criminals who committed the terror in London are proud of what they did and they are threatening additional attacks in the future. Moreover, notice that the terrorists use positive language to describe their crimes as if they were committing righteous acts. The irony is that the terrorists of Al Qaeda, similar to other terrorists, genuinely believe that they are moral and that they have right on their side.

For this reason, the Free Muslims Coalition constantly argues that the war against terrorism and, in particular, terrorism committed by Muslims is an ideological battle that cannot be won without the help of Muslims themselves. The Free Muslims Coalition was created to do just that but we need the help of other Muslims and other Muslim organization to counter the ideology of hate that comes from Al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.

In May of 2005, the Free Muslims Coalition, along with the American Islamic Forum for Democracy led a Muslim March Against Terror in Washington, DC. Many Muslim organizations refused to join us believing that such a march was not necessary. We hope that the latest terror attacks in London will convince other Muslim organizations that Marches against terror and other expressions of oppositions to terrorism are necessary and essential.

Please help us win the war against terror by making a contribution. Please visit FREE MUSLIM DONATION PAGE to support this important work. For more information, please visit THE FREE MUSLIM COALITION.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Council of Britain says:

Terrorist Attack: A Joint Statement from the Muslim Council of Britain and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland

Deepest sympathy is expressed at the death and suffering which the series of co-ordinated attacks in London has caused to the families and loved ones who have been the victims of this terrible atrocity.

This criminal attack is condemned in the strongest possible terms. No good purpose can be achieved by such an indiscriminate and cruel use of terror.

The scriptures and the traditions of both the Muslim and Christian communities repudiate the use of such violence. Religious precepts cannot be used to justify such crimes, which are completely contrary to our teaching and practice.

We continue to resist all attempts to associate our communities with the hateful acts of any minority who claim falsely to represent us. In the present uncertainties, we look to all community leaders to give an example of wisdom, tolerance and compassion.

The events of recent years have challenged Muslims and Christians to work together in order to acknowledge our differences, to affirm our common humanity, and to seek ways to share life together. Much has already been achieved, and nothing must undermine the progress that we have made. These attacks strengthen our determination to live together in peace, and to grow together in mutual understanding.

This crime must inspire us to work unceasingly together in pursuit of peace, justice and respect for difference.

The latter link came from Harry's Place.

I saw members of the Progressive Muslim Union on television today condemning the attacks, although I don't as yet see a public statement on their web page.

Notwithstanding ardent expressions of sympathy for the victims, fierce condemnations of terrorism, and all the rest of this, they must be removed from western societies and kept out until islamic practices, as controlled by arab cultural conditioning, are fundamentally reversed.

Until then, an islamic population in the midst of any western society is, to one degree or another, an open invitation to terrorists using arab communities as refuges and recruiting grounds. Never forget what Mao Zedong wrote about guerillas swimming like fish and hiding in waters populated by fish exactly like themselves.

And if you cannot adjust yourselves to such a policy and force the governments of the West to implement it, then prepare yourselves for potential victimhood anytime you are in the vicinity of a potential target.

These FMC guys deserve our wholehearted support. I am very moved by their words every time I run across them. They are exactly what the Muslim community needs to put terrorism behind them and promote freedom for Muslims everywhere.

I am proud to be a Zionist Crusader, a Western Imperialist Warmonger. I agree with Arnold Harris. We must not allow subversives in our midst. We must revive the anti-subversive measures which kept us free during the 1950s. All those who wish to reside in the United States or any Western nation must vow absolute loyalty to that nation and to our Western values, and must be made to keep that vow -- or else. Revive the HUAC, the McCarran-Walter Act, re-J. Edgar Hoover-ize the FBI, and abolish Political Correctness. Political Correctness will destroy us unless we destroy it. If this be "McCarthyism", so be it.

Dean,

obviously I appreciate your promoting these views. I need to point out that the MCB however is not as straight an arrow as I'd like. They called for boycotting the Holocaust remembrances this year because they wanted it to include references to Palestinian holocausts and whatnot. Josh trevino pointed this out at RedHot on RedState.

Its a good thing the MCB has conemmned the attacks, and the MCB is not a terror endorsing organization. However they have some room to grow before being pointed out as a role model.

Yes, before someone crawls through my blog archives, I do support CAIR and have debated their role with critics before. And my opinion of Daniel Pipes is also on record.

I am amazed that we are even debating such draconian measures as expelling Muslims or banning entry from Muslim nations.

However with each attack the case for draconian measures increases.

We are at war, and war cannot be pretty. I have argued that the only wars we should conduct are of the total variety. Total war should be a last option, but when it is taken it should be done completely. With no mercy. None.

The idea that we can fight a "war" without killing anyone is stupid and counter productive. Soldiers do one thing well: Kill.

We are facing an enemy that has no qualms over killing, so we must get over ours to do the same.

While Free Muslims may be one of the few Islamic voices raised to disassociate Islam with its jihadist heritage, they at least take the first step for the much needed discussion and transformation of Islamic culture. While their position is clear, their arguments seem to avoid dealing with the actual text and its usage through out history. That worries me.

You'll just have to forgive me if I choose to reserve judgment on the sincerity of statements by Muslim organizations. When a few start calling for War to fight their co-religionists, then maybe, I'll give more credence to their statements of condemnation. Until then, actions speak louder than words.

Platitudes are worthless (which is why Tony Blair's statement extolling the "sympathy" of other G-8 leaders left me umoved as well. When they start providing material support instead of mere rhetoric, then and only then will my cynicism subside.)

I agree with Scott Harris. And I say CAIR (one of the most notoriously subversive, terrorist-supporting organizations in the history of man) and all other organizations like it should be treated exactly as the Communist Party and its multitudinous fronts were treated in 1952 or 1951, when Senator McCarthy was at the height of his Communist-fighting career.

You know, I bet CAIR gets way more money than FMC from the Saudis. That tells you something right there.

There's really no reason why Arabs need to keep living in dictatorial oppression, any more than Eastern Europeans had to. If free and democratic Iraqis can bring their economy up to $10,000 GDP per capita, I think the effect will be like W Germany on the Soviet Union: a concrete example of why freedom is better and a magnet for the best and brightest (remember, people liked W Germany so much better they had to start shooting people to keep them from moving there) except Iraq sits square in the middle of the oppressive states. How long before freedom- and prosperity-craving Iranians and Syrians and Saudis start flocking to Free Iraq? I give it five or ten years before the dichotomy becomes obvious, and another five or ten before regimes start to fall by popular democratic revolt.
