I bought "Has Been" a while back, and while everybody makes fun of Shatner's singing, I actually think this is a really fantastic album. It's incredibly sad and uplifting / funny at the same time. Highly recommended. Good call, Dean.
Flat out: best album I've bought all year. In fact, I bought it twice: I loaned it to a friend, and got too impatient waiting for him to return it, so I bought another copy. And coincidentally, it's what's in my car CD player right now.
That was freakin' awesome. I think after this Damon Albarn might just have to put Blur on hold forever seeing how much better this has been actor does their song.
A great song on a great album. Shatner simply rules. BTW, there's also a video of a live performance of this song from the Tonight Show here on Joe Jackson's site.
Shatner wrote most of the lyrics on his album, but that's actually a cover. (Most already know that but I saw a couple hints that people were mentally crediting Shatner for them.) The original song is by Pulp. Shatner's version is better though. Here's a comic based on the song.
Why, oh WHY, did you have to bring up Shatner today?
I'm still trying to recover from the ICKY BAD mental images I got from reading that interview Shatner gave a couple of days ago where he claimed that he and James Spader would sleep together in an upcoming episode of Boston Legal. He then proceeded to describe, in detail, exactly what Spader smells like.
I'm desperately hoping he was joking, because I don't think I can cope with a reality in which I could possibly be channel-surfing and see Shatner naked. I may have to give up TV entirely.

It was bound to happen sooner or later--he went through seven Star Trek movies without his shirt ever being torn/taken off (a trademark of ST:TOS). Just be glad there won't be a seventy-five year old woman in green body makeup in bed with him. . .]:-)
Anyone who has iTunes can go to the Music Store --> Music Videos and check out an awesome video of Shatner performing "It Hasn't Happened Yet" live with Ben Folds. Great stuff.
I'm contractually obligated to love Jarvis Cocker so I can't admit that this version of his song is actually pretty good. Yeah, I like it. (But I like you better, Jarvis!)
"Shatner is so damned awesome, so abundantly unexpected, so f***ing necessary, he's practically Biblical"
The one about him finding his wife dead in the pool gives me chills.

It was an interview with Spader and he described Shatner's scent -- lamb sausage, if I remember correctly.
The film clip that Bryan linked was hysterical. (Thanks, B!)
Shatner has -after nearly forty years of trying- finally beaten Leonard Nimoy in the "worst performance" sweepstakes.
Common People beats Bilbo Baggins hands down...
I'm still laughing...
