I guess I'm wearing "Frankenclothes" because they are artificially made. In a state of nature, we would all go naked. In a state of nature, we would all freeze to death in this climate. Perhaps we should never have left equatorial Africa. Rousseau. Hmmm....
I find myself wondering: would those who are afraid of "Frankenfoods" also be afraid of this sort of "Frankenmedicine?"
Short answer: yes.
Longer answer: my prediction is not all of them, but a pretty vocal minority of them. This vocal minority includes various factions: anti-technology/anti-science zealots who unquestioningly see all "natural" as good and all "artificial" as bad; closet eugenicists who really don't want to see weaker people saved; and ultra-extremists like the human extinction crowd you've pointed out in the past. All of these folks are experts at raising alarmist cries that then scare people into overreacting to such advances.
Got no problem with Frankenfoods or meds...but I did note in the produce section that all the watermelons are the same size and shape...this kinda creeped me out...
My story and sticking with IT!
