My Faith In America Is Strong

After all, they were smart enough to know that it was time for Anthony Federov to go. (You have a great voice Anthony, but: bye!)

Vonzell didn't belong in the bottom but really of the top 3 it's so hard to say who's best.

(If you haven't been watching this show, next Tuesday will be the night to tune in. The final three are really, really good.)

My advice to Anthony: Go knock on Carrie's hotel door tonight. She's ready, boy!

I was thinking the exact same thing! She's positively smitten!

Indeed. I won't complain, no matter which one wins. I'm pulling for Bo, because he's something different, but all three are top-notch.

In fact, I'll break this down into something beyond who actually wins the AI trophy (relatively meaningless, IMHO): Bo and Vonzell will have successful singing careers, both better than any of the previous contestants. Carrie could do fairly well, too, but after she completes her tenure at AI, she'll return to her roots, which will (unfortunately) limit her potential.

Anyway, I won't bitch regardless of who wins.

I think both the 2nd and 3rd season heavy hitters were stronger performers than this season's (I didn't watch the 1st season, but Justin Guarini?!); the only time I've even come close to goosebumps this season was Vonzell's second performance this week.

And no, I have no idea what Fantasia's current deal is, but her "Summertime" was one of those classic TV moments that I will always remember. Electrifying, and absolutely unprecedented.

But even so I have to say that I've never seen any Idol contestant work as hard as Vonzell. She consistently stretches, consistently impresses, never takes the easy route.

Anthony is gone because he never even tried to move out of his comfort zone; Carrie deserves to be gone for almost the same reason (she's tried but not succeeded). Bo is challenged just by being on the show, but instead of stretching himself to meet the format he stretches the format to meet himself.

I don't think Vonzell can win - she's not particularly unique or interesting and doesn't seem to have much of a fan base - but I have to give her credit for not pandering.

Carrie all the way!!

I'm already planning to buy her CD. I couldn't say that for any of the other Idol finalists in any of the past seasons.

Bo is good too. I don't care much for Vonzell.

Owen: in that case you must have been asleep during Bo's 'Whipping Post' rendition!

Bo's Whipping Post was like magic for me- I was friggin' floored. but since then he hasn't got the magic back...

On Tuesday I was hoping Carrie and Bo wouldn't make the finals becaue they disappointed, but I think America made the right choice.

Really interesting to see what happens on Tuesday. I think Vonzell consistently does her best, and is always good, but if Bo and/or Carrie can do THEIR best the Vonz can't compete.

It seems to me any of these 3 would have easily won last year. Am I way off on that?

That's the single best description of Bo Bice's work on the show I've ever seen.

Although unlike you, I'm a huge fan. I missed season three entirely, unfortunately, so I can't compare to that, but I think he's the best thing I've ever seen on the show.

I also think you're mistaken about Vonzell: she has a strong fan base methinks.

I said it once, I'll say it again.

If America votes Carrie through to the end, and she hasn't seen a stage performance coach by then. I'm gonna go on a long sabbatical from pop music and talent competitions of this sort.

Bo Bice is the truth.

Vonzell does each performance justice.

But unfortunatley based on current popular opinion it appears that Carrie may just be the American way.

The girl has pipes that'd put most modern country stars to shame, and she's as cute as a button on Paddington Bars' nose. But..If i wanted a wax country statue I'd take a flight to Dollywood. I thought this was about 3 elements performance, song and style, which also translates to dollars and cents for record producers. Because though she comes off singing like a lark, her looks and moves remind me of a poor man's Britnet by way of Nashville (with none of the dance moves).

Can the real idol please stand up?
