I can't believe I'm about to say this, but... I wish I lived in Detroit. (For this reason, and this reason only. And I would leave as soon as the concert was done.)
This is honestly no odder than an orchestra doing movie soundtrack selections, which has been common for decades. It's just interesting to see that video games have reached that level of acceptance.
I LOVE Nobuo Uematsu's music... He's my second-favorite living composer, after Yoko Kanno (who's written music for dozens of anime).
And you're right, Robert, the "Kefka" theme is awesome. But I must say that "One-Winged Angel" (Sephiroth's theme) and "Liberi Fatali" (the opening to FF8) are my two favorites. Any piece of music is about 100,000 times cooler if you add people chanting in Latin. :P
