American Idol Surprises

So we're down to 10. My two favorites, Bo and Nadia, picked good but not great songs, whereas some others (especially Vonzell) were absolutely on fire. Nikko gave his best performance yet.

If I had my druthers Constantine would be gone soon, but I think twenty billion teenaged girls will keep him in the competition for some time, maybe even all the way to the end.

If I had to pick who will leave tomorrow, it'll be either Scott or Anthony--but I fear my lovely Nadia may once again be in the bottom three. :-(

I've been wanting Constantine gone almost as badly as I wanted Mikalah dispensed with. Vonzell was HOT tonight.

You think Nadia is in the bottom three? I don't think so. She has a following that will keep her afloat (and she was good tonight, too).

I love Nadia, but she was in the bottom three last week and this week I liked her performance but I had to admit to its weaknesses. All the other women were better. Hurts me to admit it because I really like this girl.

I'm totally with you on Constantine. But he's got his own strong base and he just gave them everything they wanted tonight.

No way is Nadia going to go this week. (IMO, of course). I’m very bad with names, and I don’t want to go on record with the nicknames my wife and I use to describe the contestants, so I need to go do some googling.

OK, I’m back. I don’t like Constantine much, but I think he connected tonight, for once. My guess at the bottom three are Anthony, Jessica, and Scott, with 50/50 odds on one of the latter two getting the boot.

But there was some good singing tonight!

Holy crap, I never even noticed those links up there!

The blogosphere is still a young medium. It’s going to be a while till the marketers figure this stuff out.

I'd bet that the really good ones will be here about 5 minutes after the lawyers.

I'm an engineer, but I spend 10-12 hours a week doing technical marketing stuff. This is going into the “lessons learned” folder.

BTW, was Paula Abdul s-faced last night or what. Someone hook that woman to a breathalizer.

ABSOLUTELY, Solomon. Unfortunately, I had to miss the first half of the show last night, but the first thing to strike me was Abdul's half-open eyes and slurred speech. She was definitely three sheets to the wind.

I've never cared much for Anthony. He's a fine singer, but he's the one that Simon's talking about when he goes on about karaoke bars.

Nikko is tough for me. He's certainly done a better job since he took Mario's place, but I just don't care much for his style. I can appreciate the quality of his voice (now, but not before the top 12), but his songs just leave me emotionless. And emotionless ain't the result a singer is looking for.

And as much as I like Scott, his performance last night, if I'm being honest, was horrible (Simon is my idol...heh). I predict he's gonna get the boot tonight, I'm sad to say.

Jay, I missed Jessica's performance so I only heard the closing clip. Did she really do that badly? She sounded pretty good from the little I heard.

Boyd:

I don’t think Jessica necessarily performed too badly. I think she played it too safe.

She was off pitch a bit early on. But mostly I just thought it was a bland, unenergetic, and uninspiring performance. I think that a few of the others who really needed to step it up a notch last night came through.

I guess we’ll find out tonight!

And Paula really did seem out of it. FWIW, it seemed more like a Xanax or Valium buzz to me. I think that adds to the entertainment.
