He's Here
Dean
Well in case you hadn't noticed: he's here.
C-section babies always look nicer. They don't get all squeezed and smashed. But still, isn't he gorgeous?
The most amusing story: (please stop reading now if you are easily squeamish--seriously, you don't want to keep reading if you are):
We went in for the c-section 2 weeks early. Mama's belly was already measuring as if she was almost three weeks overdue, which was why the c-section was scheduled. It looked like the kid was going to be a toddler-at-birth. This is not as much of a joke as it sounds: mom and dad were both over 10 pounds at birth, and older brother Jake was also over 10 pounds. So when Rosemary was showing as if she was already damn near a month overdue a few weeks early, it was a no-brainer for the OB/GYN: scheduled c-section, let's not even play, this is going to be a big baby and if the first was hard (and it was, wound up with an emergency c-section anyway), why put mama through it all a second time?
Guess what? (Look out, those easily grossed out can just stop reading right now) when they opened her up, splatter splatter splat, the whole OR floor was practically soaked. Nurses were jumping back, doctor said, "holy sh**!"
Doctor guessed about 10 pounds of amniotic fluid came out of her. Drake was slightly above average in size but only slightly--7 pounds 11 ounces, a fine healthy weight especially for two weeks early. All that hugeness was water in the sac.
Heh. He was probably nice and comfy with plenty of room in there. Poor kid. What a bad morning! All that light and noise....
You know, the first time I became a father, the scariest sound in my life was that first cry. The second time I became a father? My goodness, it was the sweetest sound in the world.
Am I babbling? Why yes I am.
I won't be around much the next couple of days, but it looks like "the crew" has things well under control.
Thank you all for your kindness and support.

GOD* BLESS YOU AND YOURS ALWAYS!!!!
(*and all Gods and Goddesses)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Good Luck and God Bless.
And Congratulations to the both of you.
I had to come here to see if you had blogged yet and you had. Thank God, Thank God, I have been so very concerned since Rosemary first announced the pregnancy. You all have been through so much and I sure didn't help one fine day when I got upset over nonsense of a foolish ole' lady that was confused, scared and drugged with to much medication.
Gosh, I remember when I was told I would now have to go on shots, then bang due to heavy demand they were not availabe. I have often thought of the song by Garth Brooks called, I Thank God For Unanswered Prayers. Boy, how I have learned God does not answer prayers in the ways we wish He would and when we pray for something we need and or think we need, He answers in His Timing not Ours. That's a hard one to accept but this ole' gal has sure been tested and He did answer this prayer.
Lord Jesus, my son and daughter are going to have a baby after trying so hard and going through so much in their lives. Please hold them in the palms of Your Hands and give them a safe and healthy child.
When we found out it was to be a son, I leaped for Joy because having sons is an incredable treasure for the rest of your life. I should know as two sons belong to me. When you married, you were no longer my claim. You are now Rosemary's claim and I am here if you ever need me for it is no longer my duty nor is it my desires that matter. It belongs to you and your wife together.
Ah honey, I believe in miracles, and I believe you will have another child as you two want another one so very much. Just maybe there is a little girl in the plans waiting for a Mommy and Daddy because she needs wonderful parents like you two. So...you just keep your faith. Never give up on a Dream Son, go forward with the love you have found in your Soulmate, your Best Friend, your Woman, your Wife.
I know you don't believe in God, but prayers of those that do are all around you and I can sincerely say, the desires of your heart can be fullfilled in time, maybe not your timing but there is always, Hope.
God, I've got to go back to bed and know I will sleep a bit better and I am in deep prayer for our President, you can't imagine how many people wish ill of him and are upset he chose to put his hand on the bible. I bet Rosemary is thrilled he is being sworn in the very next day your son was born. Boy, did she Stand Strong for President Bush and NEVER BACKED DOWN ON HER CHOICE! IT WAS GEORGE BUSH AND SHE TOOK THE HEAT. I JUST KNOW SHE IS EXCITED TO WATCH HIM BEING SWORN IN TONIGHT AND YOU TOO!
DRAKE EUGENE ESMAY WELCOME TO THE WORLD PRECIOUS, GRANDMA JAJA LOVES YOU! BOY, THAT IS A GREAT NAME!!! YOU TOO JACOB DEAN...Grandma JaJa Loves you and I wish I could hold you too. Well, I know you are a big boy so at least I could HUG YOU!!!

Very happy to hear that everyone is well, and the little guy is whole and healthy.
