Art Of The Start

art of the start book coverI am currently reading Guy Kawasaki's Art of the Start: The Time-Tested, Battle-Hardened Guide For Anyone Starting Anything, a guide to starting new business and charity ventures. Given that I may be working with some other bloggers to start a new online business venture soon, this book certainly intrigued me when I saw it. So far I'd have to say that anyone thinking of starting a new venture really might benefit from giving it a look.

I'm not quite finished yet so I'll probably have more to say soon, but I must say the last chapter, on how to be a mensch, should be printed out in a pamphlet and distributed nationwide as a public service.

I may also have a chance to interview Kawasaki. Not sure what I'd ask him just yet, although I'm open to suggestions....

I was offered a copy of this book, which sounds excellent, but never received it. Oh well.

I read it recently--it was part of a purchase of credits for stock photos at istockphoto.com--and really enjoyed it. Lots of good ideas, some of them work in my world, some of them don't, but all of it was interesting to read.

Here's a list of questions Guy Kawasaki has already answered...

I read an article by Guy Kawasaki ten or twelve years ago in which he asserted that no programmer should be permitted to drive an automobile with a manual transmission. I will never help to push him out of a snowbank, and it will take a lot to get me interested in anything else he ever has to say.
