More Love Notes For Fidel

Well, the campaign to send "Get Well Soon!" notes to Fidel Castro has generated some fun interest. In the hopes of keeping the ball rolling, I have decided to offer a prize: whoever writes the most creative letter to Fidel will win a prize: a one-day guest hosting stint on Dean's World.

That's right, you get to take over the joint and do pretty much whatever you want. All you have to do is write the wittiest, most cutting letter to Fidel Castro in response to his recent injuries. Oh, and in addition to posting it (either on your own blog and sending me a trackback, or leaving a comment here), you must actually send the letter to getwellfidel@hotmail.com.

If the email address winds up blocked, I'll just publish 'em here, maybe mail 'em to the Cuban embassy.

Judgement will be my entirely arbitrary whim of course. But there will be points for style. Potty mouth will probably get you points docked, unless you're particularly creative.

I must admit that my favorite so far is Tainted Bill's, but of course Val has three interesting suggestions. Now can anyone top them?

Remember: it's for the children.

Dear Fidel,

I really appreciated your performance of "The Berlin Wall". It was great. I laughed, I cried, I locked a writer in my basement. Encore, encore! One suggestion regarding style and delivery -- a higher starting point and greater velocity would surely result in a greater dramatic impact and convince the skeptics. Be the character. You have my confidence.

Sincerely,

Too great...too great!

I had to send my letter along this morning.

Val, Nice job rounding up those entries. Some of those letters really make a guy smile on a wet and dreary morning.
