Talking To A Muslim

Quoted:

I had an in spiring conversation with a Muslim-Ameri can. An immigrant from Pakistan, he hadn't yet been granted citizenship, but he had more faith in America than our native-born elite does.

"I write to my brothers and sisters," he said, "And I tell them that they do not know true Islam. If you want to see true Islam, you must come to America."

He meant the social justice and the respect for the individual, rich or poor, prescribed by the Koran. He had not found those qualities in the land of his birth. Nor do they prevail in any Muslim state between Casablanca and Karachi.

There's more. It's all good. Read the whole thing.

I just wish we'd hear more from guys like this.

(1) Do NOT be sending me hate mail. I've got nothing against Muslims. I've got nothing against Muslim-Americans. I've got nothing against almost-open-imigration. But ...

(2) This is NOT "true Islam". Its Christian democracy! Like it or not, America is a Christian nation ("in God we trust, one nation under God, etc). As such, we are decidedly NOT an example of "true Islam".

One of the slim-but-existent possibilities I've thought would make moonbat and anti-Muslim heads explode alike is for the Iraqi Consitutional Congress to emerge from deliberations with a press conference, and begin reading from their chosen Constitution, and as it is translated, it reads:
We the people, of the United States of Iraq, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility. . .

Col. Peters, always a good read.

Lucy, we are "Christian" only in that [A] the founders were from a Christian background. The government itself is officially neutral as it should be. And [B] culturally, well that has been the dominant one, but it isn't something we insist on or ram down peoples' throats. All we ask is that you just leave other people alone, as you would want to be left alone. Failure to meet this simple requirement will result in repercussions.

All Col. Peters' friend was commenting on was that justice was being done as the Koran requires and as is almost never done in Islamic lands. Imagine a person who professes the Christian Bible and leads a corrupt and decadent life (say, one of the medieval popes). That's what Peters' friend experienced before he experienced actual civil justice in America. Pefect here? Heck no! Just better than most of the places on this earth.
