Terrorist Scumbag Officially Dead

He's finally officially dead.

It was becoming almost comical, wasn't it? "E's not dead, e's pining!" "Pinin'?" "Yeah, pinin' for the bombs!"

By the way, why are they worried about where to bury him? Why don't they just strap a bunch of bombs to him and throw him out the window? That way he can go to Heaven as a martyr.

Catch 22:
Ozmandias

by Percy Bysshe Shelly

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed: And on the pedestal these words appear:

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

--------------------------------------------

Would that not be a wonderful memorial to Mr. Arafat ? I should think so, save perhaps for the the noteworthy Mrs.Percy Bysshe Shelly, one Mary Shelly, the author of Frankenstein.

That would complete the round, would it not ?

Catch 22:

Profound and grand. Thank you.

I'm afraid it's too good for Arafat. Strapping bombs to him too good for him, too. I recommend covering him, and any other such terrorist scumbag, in the fat and excrement of a pig.

Harsh, I know. That's the way I am.

For once I agree with Mr. Anderson. Also, if memory serves, should such materials come into contact with even his corpse that's enough to keep him out of paradise, according to his religion.

Arafat is an interesting and complex person, who gave hope to a very hopeless people.

Of course, he did some bad and stupid things as well, like all of us. Well more than most I would hazard to say in his case.

My sympathy is with the Palestinian people in their mourning. I hope they can find a better leader this time around.

Maybe when Sharon finally follows him to the grave their respective people (are they even that anymore?) can have some peace.

Speak for yourself, dude. I for one haven't detonated my dynamite-strapped minions in any crowded areas recently.

I really don't think 'bad and stupid things' are quite the words you should use to describe the murder of innocents.

Where to begin?

Never mind.

Maybe I am being too kind.

But I try not to speak ill of the dead, especially before their supporters have had a chance to mourn.

Terrorism is certainly a dead end and morally repugnant and I hope the Palestinians elect a leader who decides to take a different path.

A good start would be for Arafat's cronies to not lynch people who want democracy and free speech in Palestine. Which is what they've been doing up until now.

There's an old joke about a Russian who goes into a store every day and asks for Pravda. The store owner explains every daythat the USSR has collapsed so they don't sell Pravda anymore. Eventually the store owner explodes and easks why the guy keeps asking for Pravda. The guy says he knows that the USSR has collapsed and they don't sell Pravda, but he loves hearing it.

That's why I read articles all damn week saying that Arafat recently died.

Arnold Harris (mail):
Arafat obviously died of AIDS -- a disease that neither the French physicians who treated him nor anyone in his ragtag refugee camp entourage will admit to -- and it is said that he got it from fucking one or more or his own bodyguards.

Which means that the HIV virus must be fairly widespread among this particular populous. Which means that it will spread further and affect a continuously growing number of them, considering that health care in general among such populations is both non-modern and in rare supply.

Which means that one particular solution to the Palestine problem is slowly and inexorably taking effect all but unnoticed.

And no, I would not provide any of them modern American medical assistance at American taxpayer expense. It would accomplish nothing in any case, because AIDS, although slow, always is incurable and death inevitable without large and expensive daily supplies of drugs. So that's the way the cookie crumbles. And yes, I am cruel and hateful.

See I have actually been to Gaza and The West Bank and Jerusalem (and Isreal) and I have seen the terrible conditions that the Palestinians have to live in. Especially bad is Gaza, where over a million people, mostly children, live in a what is essentially a large open air prison for the crime of being born with the wrong birthright.

It doesn't excuse desperate measures, but it certainly makes them more comprehensible.

And wishing for genocide upon an entire people is kind of beyond the pale, even for you, Arnold.

I can assure you that neither gay sex nor AIDS is rampant amongst the Palestinian people. Perhaps amongst Arafat's entourage, but I don't even that.

According to:

http://www.medsproject.com/forms/hivsti2mf.pdf

a USAID publication, the HIV rate is 1.6 per 100,000, a very low level, with 33 known cases. This data is from 2000, so is probably a bit out of date, but not by much.

The society in general is very conservative and modest with extremely low levls of drug and alchohol consumption.

There is quite a bit of travel back and forth between the West Bank and places like the US, where AIDS rates are higher.

All right, I'll stop being such a scold now.

If you want to fantasize about having unlimited power and destroying your "enemies" so be it.

I just feel really... sad... for the Palestinians. They have had a really bad time of it, especially since 1967. I know they have brought most of it upon themselves, but 1/2 the population is under 15 and can't really be blamed for the sins of their parents.

Dean Esmay (www):
I have always felt bad for the Palestinians.

Personally, I hold Arafat more responsible for their current state than any other man alive. That he has given some of them "hope" is, to me, like saying Lenin and Trotsky gave the Russian people "hope." Ahem. Yeah. Meantime, the truth is the Palestinians have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. It doesn't help that the U.N. keeps them dependent on a welfare state and that well-meaning "liberal" Westerners blame the Jews for everything.

I often think the really cruel and heartless answer would be to cut a deal with Jordon to give most of the territory save Jerusalem to them. The Hashemites would have no trouble at all putting down the terrorist problem. Mind you, the bloodshed would be ten times greater than anything Israel has ever done, but once it was over it would be over.

Arnold Harris (mail):
Jim, the Arab population of Gaza, Judea and Samaria face a certain future of life in an open air prison. Probably under worse conditions than you think you saw when you were there.

And all because of this insane effort to squeeze together two utterly hostile peoples into one of the world's smallest countries.

Other than eliminating the Jewish state and scattering their population once again all over the world, there is no substitute for massive repatriation of the Arabs. And anyone who tries to ignore this will themselves be partly responsible for the unparalled miseries yet to come.

Because the Jews will not disassemble their state and leave. Never again. That is precisely why they have accumulated, over the past 40 years, a major hidden and protected arsenal of some 150-175 nuclear and thermonuclear weapons of their own design and construction, along with the multi-stage long range missiles to delivery them exactly on target on any and all large populated places in the Arab world and other hostile islamic states, from the Atlantic ocean to Pakistan. Their civilian leadership and general staff will act responsibly, as is necessary. But if the question ever again arises about the destruction of their country, they will not at all be defenseless.

The message to world is clear. Forget about setting up and legalizing a terrorist state on both sides of Israel's borders. Instead, start moving those Arabs as soon as practicable, before they find the means to foment what might prove to be a nuclear war which could swallow the rest of the world. Many, perhaps most of those Arabs would leave on their own if given a place to settle. But if the terrorists are left in charge, they will hold the rest of the Arabs in place as a great mass of hostages.

And if you advocate anything that helps perpetuate this present hideous situation, then you, Jim, are the one whose opinions and dreams are beyond the pale.

That is abject bullcrap. If you want to talk about the wrong birthright, go to North Korea, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan. People there live in hellholes and were born into them (and are turning them into worse hellholes).

"Palestinians" were born in Israel, the only modern nation in the entire subcontinent. They were born into a pluralist democracy with civil rights, something you can't find in a thousand mile radius of the Jordan river.

And they had to coexist with Jews. That, apparently, was the deal-breaker.

The "wrong birthright" of the Palestinian Arab children is completely and utterly the result of the Palestinian Arab 'intifada', a murderous rampage started, nurtured, and prolonged past any semblance of any poltical goals by one man. Yasser Arafat.

Pissing on his grave would be an insult to my bladder.
