I predict it becomes a cult classic.

It's just great. A very funny movie, and bitch-slaps the Hollywood left--hard.

You know, I'm all for bitch-slapping the Hollywood left, but I think America needs to take these issues more seriously. In fact, I think we need to spend less time bitch-slapping each other and more time paying attention to the world. I ain't humorless or nuttin. That's just my belief. I do think some things are important, and I saw an interview with these guys. They say say Americans need to take themselves LESS seriously. What? Americans barely pay attention to anything as it is. I haven't seen the movie, so it's not fair to criticize it. I'm just criticizing an idea, based on what I know.

Free speech, of course. But I don't necessarily think this is the sort of stuff we need right now.

I also don't think we should pay any attention to what Alec Baldwin thinks. For instance, just because Alec Baldwin says the war is wrong doesn't make it right. It doesn't really mean much of anything, in my opinion.

What I really think is that we need to stop attacking people and start examining IDEAS. This country has stopped doing that, and this is very dangerous. You know, in a democracy, the people have to arm themselves with knowledge or it all falls apart.

It's by the south park people, isn't it? Seeing as the South Park movie was the funniest damn thing ever made...I'll probably be watching this one...

I can't wait until it opens in the UK. I am actually willing to go see in the movie theatre rather than on DVD in my flat. We are getting together a whole posse of people to go and see this film. I am guessing it won't be opening in Islington any time soon.

I'm not a movie person, but I guess I'll see it. Anything that has villians dumping people into shark tanks has got to be good.
Good, as in "that's entertainment!"

By the way, lkr, when, in the 10,000 years of recorded human history, was there a time when people only discussed ideas as opposed to going for each other's throats? I'd really like to know when the golden age was.

The best we can do is be polite when impaling our enemies. ;)

"How do you rike that Haanns Brix!"

Took my 17 yr old foster son to it, he still hasn't stopped laughing. I think I'll have to go see it again.

Stone and Parker will never eat lunch in Hollywood again. Not that it'll bother them.

They went overboard with the gross-outs (no surprises there) but otherwise it seems like a potential classic - something you can see again and again, quote from, etc.

Loved the panthers..

Of course they did, it's the guys from South Park. That's their M.O. Watching Team America whack most of the Hollywood nutjobs was well worth the price of admission. Of course now they (the Hollywood elite) will say that their lives are in danger from this film. Hopefully they will be dumb enough (i.e. Matt Dah-mon) to do that since it will shoot the sales through the roof.

I saw Ebert and Roeper's review of this film. Roeper liked it. Ebert felt that terrorism wasn't a subject to joke about right at this moment. Roeper maintained that it's only incidentally about terrorism and more about the self-righteous Hollywood elite. And gross-out jokes.

It's not often that Ebert doesn't "get" a movie, but... from the comments here, it sounds like he didn't really "get" this one.

So when can we joke about terrorism? When there isn't any? Humor is about important topics.

Ebert's a far-lefty. Like most of them he's only "gets" humor when he dislikes the target.

Exactly, Ebert knows he's one intemperate outburst away from from sitting next to Matt Day-mun.

Seriously though. Look at his reviews he gives the most trenchant propaganda 3 and 4 stars. Maybe this movie made him think and he can't stand the pain.

lindey: agreed. He's upset cuz some of his best buddies got trashed during this movie.

In fact, if you check out the comments in the lefty blogs, they tend to feel, ahhh "dissed" by this movie. Heh.

Dean - the puking was very expertly done. I heard that they did many retakes over several days to get it right.

Overkill is part of what makes South Park great. My favorite South Park is the crazy Mel Gibson one. I wonder if they were exaggerating..

Ever since Ebert had an orgasm over F9/11 I guess we all know where he's coming from so if he hates a political satire, I guess that's a true recommendation to see it. He's been poppin' veins over GWB since 2000. I heard him say on a talk show in 2000 that he loathes GWB. Wouldn't want to lose his seat on the Hollywood Elite Leftists Board of Directors, would he? So Team America gets one star. Silly man.
