Kerry's Foreign Policy Meltdown

Glenn Reynolds notes that John Kerry's foreign policy collapsed into complete ruin this week, with findings that, no, Saddam didn't have vast stockpiles of WMDs but yes, did retain small quantities along with other forbidden weapons and, more importantly, retained programs to reconstitute them as quickly as possible. Most damning of all, he also had substantial bribery systems in place with officials in places like France and Russia to help him to that end--and to guarantee that they would veto any attempt in the U.N. Security Council to take him out. Read the rest here.

Powerline has even more compelling details.

It remains to be seen whether Bush is articulate enough to point all this stuff out for himself. Obviously, those who called him a "liar" have been made to look like partisan hacks and fools. But how to say so without seeming, y'know, angry about it?

I prefer cold, precise logic laid down in impeccable detail. Without anger, without emotion, without remorse.

If Bush cannot make the point, then he deserves to lose. Ditto if he cannot defend his economic record, which is hardly indefensible.

Dean,

Thats about it - my view is that everyone is still misunderestimating the President. Everyone's looking at the weeks polls (a large number of which had questionable methodology, to say the least) and looking at Kerry's bump in the polls (which in the aggregate never put him in the lead, and which even in the worst polls started to recede yesterday) and saying, just as they did after the Donk convention, that its all over - Kerry has "proven" that President Bush has it all wrong and now the American people are finally seeing the light and are turning to Kerry.

Sure enough, the President could have a melt-down tomorrow, but I doubt it...and no matter what actually happens at the debate, the MSM and the Kerry/Edwards people will spin it as a decisive win for Kerry...but my view is that the President is very clearly stating his case (his speech yesterday in Wilkes-Barre was fantastic on this score) while Kerry is still, boiled down (and as Reynolds points out) the naked Emperor as far as actual proposals go.

My reliance is upon the ultimate good sense of the American people - my fellow citizens ability to pierce through the fog of deception and figure out whats what. I might be wrong, but I believe I'm right - and, furthermore, believe that I'm so right that in what will be a shock to all by a very few of us, President Bush will win huge on November 2nd.

You can't beat something with nothing - and nothing is all Kerry has; that, plus hatred and fear.

There's to Kerry's collapse, now. CBS Radio News has just reported that US military in Baghdad has seized computer disks showing that numerous schools, including one in New Jersey, had been cased and documented.

The terrorists apparently documented security, emergency evacuation, and major systems of the schools (HVAC, etc.)

The findings may have prompted the terror alert to schools today. I cannot find anything on the web. This report was on the CBS Radio News at 6:00 PM CDT.

In other words, this confirms what Pres. Bush said some time ago about "weapons of mass destruction program related activities."

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Catch 22:
Yes, You could be and are definitely wrong. Seems you have swallowed the Kerry kool-aid political scenario--- Kerry the war hero and his Vietnam war buddies Bush and company are the war criminals. The US military is presumably ready for total and ultimate collapse unless the French, Germans and the corrupt United Nations power lunch gang have a dinner party with Kerry in the Whitehouse.

This isn't a game show. We want the guy who can best kick ass. Little Lord Johnny may have many fine qualities, but kick-ass is not in his repertoire.

Bill,

But it is the responsibility of a leader to lead; it is his responsibility to rouse the populace when it should be roused.

After all, why was Churchill so great?

And by the way, and sorry, Dean, I'd give the job to Ann Coulter in a New York minute. Wrrowww.

Chris,

Yes, a leader must lead. I'd rather follow Bush than His Grace. I'd enjoy seeing Bush screech to a halt on an aircraft carrier as a fighter passenger any day.

His Lordship just doesn't do it for me. Yes, he laid his personal ass on the line in Nam, and he also got the hell out as soon as he could. I don't blame him. I would have done the same. It's all about what he's done since.

I don't condemn him. Perhaps he acted in good conscience. But neither do I give him credit.

Electing an isolationist with a history of pacifism on a platform of appeasement in the middle of a hot war.

That is soooo not a good idea.

Hi Dean,

I already mailed to you THREE TIMES, and asked you to remove the error in your posting : You confused Germany with China. There's no information about german officials involved in the described bribery system in the articles. So, for journalistic accuracy, please change it to "France, China and Russia". I hope there are no such mistakes in your swift-boat-vet-interviews, because i hate false accusations :-(...

Bye,

Andreas

Hi Dean,

Sorry if i sounded a little angry, um, because i was ;-). I used your notification-form in your "contact"-list and your system replied with "message send", so i thought it worked.

Lately i was quarreling with Stephen from the "friends of saddam" site, about a weird - if not malicious - conspiracy-theory he made up concerning the german peace movement and unscam, and i was worrying if some nationalistic xenophobes finally succeeded in establishing a general anti-german sentiment within the U.S., just because Germany didn't participate in the war ( which wouldn't have been possible anyway, because it would have been unconstitutional - i'm afraid only very few americans actually are aware of this fact ).

Anyways, thanks for the correction.

Bye,

Andreas
