Tabby Update

We have run into a major snag in getting Tabby over to the states--they're estimating a four week delay on getting her dad a visa. She may well die if we wait that long.

Chief Wiggles has more details.

May I suggest once again that you go to House.gov and Senate.gov, look up your congressman and your Senators, pick up the phone, and ask if they'll help with this situation? This girl doesn't have four weeks.

Called both senators and the rep.

First senator's staffer listened to the story, took down Chief's URL and said they'd get in touch with Sen. Hatch to see where he's at. I'm calling them back tomorrow to follow up.

Pretty much the same deal from the rep's office.

But the second senator's case worker said there's nothing they can do without a written request from a constituent who is either:
1. A blood relative of the person needing care
2. A doctor who who will be providing the care
Said the request must include the patients full name, the consulate they're applying to, and the patient's date of birth.

Said that's due to the privacy act of 1974.

Didn't budge when I told him that Hatch, Hollings and Graham are trying to help.

Any chance the medical care will take place in Ohio?

I've never called these guys before - what can I say to get some action?

Well, hmm. She's getting care in North Carolina. So I'm not sure what can be done from Ohio.

Next step might be to start calling radio stations and such. This is ridiculous.

well, that puts us about 50% down as far as the senate is concerned.:(
But here is the info for Elizabeth Dole's Raleigh office:
310 New Bern Ave. Ste. 122
Raleigh, NC 27601
(919) 856-4630
To email her go to dole.senate.gov and click on the email link.
Since care will be provided in NC, Liddy might be of some assistance. From what I understand, she's been pretty responsive to requests like these......

Will it be at Duke or UNC or Wake Forest? The rep whose district the treatment will be in might want to get involved as well.
