Anger

You know, it's really not nice to beat up soldiers.

The pathetic coward would never have done it to the guy's face.

Some people seem to feel that these isolated incidents are not newsworthy. Me? I think that isolated incidents serve to remind people of what civil and decent behavior is, and that strong emotions are no excuse for deplorable behavior. They can also serve to make us stop and think about our own emotions over contentious issues, and think, "Man, I would be ashamed if I lost my temper so bad I did something like that."

They also serve to remind us that, no matter what side you're on when it comes to a contentious issue, over-the-top rhetoric can be dangerous. In this case, I doubt very much this soldier would have been attacked this way if it weren't for Michael Moore and the Bush=fascist crowd.

Last time I made notice of left-wingers behaving poorly, someone took me to task for not noting when right-wingers behaved poorly. But I do try to notice that when it happens, and condemn it, and I've done it more than once. No one should hesitate to bring such things to my attention if they learn of them.

JFC!!! This was a Toby Keith concert. Why go if you feel like that slimy bastard evidently did??? Unless, of course, you are an unimaginable lowlife and you were actually TROLLING for a soldier to beat up. That is just disgusting.

What a fargin loser.

I like what the soldier's mom said - that the wuss who sucker-punched him "needs our prayers, just like the insurgents, because he's a coward."

Bingo. What a sissy. Throw a punch from behind. Kick the guy while he's down, then run off into the crowd.

Loser.

Stand tall, Foster Barton of the 1st Calvary!
And try to enjoy the extra time with your family, courtesy of Mr. Sissy-Wuss Pansy-Ass. The nose will heal up just fine, I'm sure.

I'm skeptical about this one. First, no mention has been made on this site about the true nature of one Phil Parlock (who has been attacked by wanton Democrats on three separate occassions with his photographer buddy on hand to record the event - how conveenient) and the possibility that the attacker of his 3 year old daughter was actually his own son. So, who knows what lies behind this story. Second, I can't imagine anyone who didn't want to be there sitting through more than 5 minutes of Toby Keith (that was a joke). Most people on the left aren't interested in beating up soldiers even if we really, really disagree with the war. Why attack them? They're just doing their job.

Anyone who strike from behind is beneath contempt. But one can contrast the terrorism the GOP engaged in Boston compared to the peaceful tactics the Democrats engaged in against GOP delegates (or anyone who looked like a GOP delegate). But then again the standards of manners have declined in this country for years. We should allow dueling.

I salute Foster Barton, a hero of the War for our nation's survival, and I condemn not only the despicable traitorous scum who beat him up but also anybody who tries to excuse it or deny it in any way. I also condemn anybody who tries to justify or to explain away the loathsome behavior of the creep who attacked Mr. Parlock's little girl just because her father holds Politically Incorrect views. They are totalitarians who believe in free speech for their own crowd but not for anyone who dares to disagree with them. I condemn all totalitarians who deny individual rights.

That last sentence was redundant: all totalitarians, by definition, deny individual rights.

Darren: IIRC, mention was made of Mr. Parlock's political activities. The response from most posters here was, I believe, "So What?" You do not attack people physically in the USA just because you do not like their political beliefs. That is an iron-clad rule, such as "No grabbing the face mask" and "Boys do not hit girls."

The left and the Democrats this election have been much nore shrill and angry-acting than the right. This isn't always the case, but it is now. That is where these attacks are coming from. Confident people, those who are sure of themselves and their position do not do acts like this very often. Those who feel the ground crumbling under them are more inclined to do so. And what better way to describe the results of four years of frustration at not being able to take down Chimpy McBushHitler and convince the people that he is Evil!Evil!Evil! than "ground crumbling under your feet?" Do you not think that the rage and frustration would produce this kind of anger?

BTW, regarding the union the guy who ripped the sign was from apologized to the Parlocks and said they would take care of the matter.

I also seem to remember an update on the Parlock story, but for a moment let's just assume Darren's right.

Are we now to question news from the NBC affiliate based on previous reporting on Dean's World? I think this is an example of how far lefties will stretch to avoid acknowledging any information contrary to their established beliefs. I suppose many of them also believe Dan Rather is being unfairly picked on.

I posted the Parlock story on my site after reading it here, and got the same response from the Left - and no data.

To "Never grab the face mask," and "Never hit a girl," I would add "Never make a little kid cry."

Responding to all of the criticisms above:

"Never make a little kid cry"

**I agree with this regardless of the facts.

"Rather being picked on..."

**No, I think the criticisms of Rather are 100% fair and I've told my liberal friends that too (although I think it's much more fair to criticize CBS news as a whole as well). I acknowledged the Rather story as soon as I saw the memos posted on Little Green Footballs and followed every single post on indcjournal.com. I have nothing but admiration for the reporting on this story as it was done by the aforementioned bloggers and others. I think its significance goes beyond the election. I think anytime major media of any stripe is held accountable is good. The only bad fallout of this is the CBS tries to make up for it by becoming Fox Jr. (similar to CNN) to appease the right (which would obviously work judging from some of the blanket condemnations I read on this site and others). But, at least I know that there are people out there who will hold the media accountable. I only hope the left and center bloggers can do as good a job as the right has in this case.

"The left and the Democrats this election have been much nore shrill and angry-acting than the right."

Again, taking a single incident and making it seem like all Democrats are responsible. The right wing's attempts at spinning the DNC into an anger fest were a joke. The only hotheaded Democrat I can see is Zell Miller (Howard Dean never challenged a talk show host to a duel). The idea of connecting John Kerry to this crap is B.S. And I keep seeing that Democrats are supposed to repudiate Michael Moore but that Cheney can appear on Rush Limbaugh (known for calling moderate Democrats "Satan") and that's somehow OK.

"BTW, regarding the union the guy who ripped the sign was from apologized to the Parlocks and said they would take care of the matter."

They apologized immediately after the event before Parlock's history came to light. They are currently investigating. I think it would be pretty easy to figure out whether it's true or not. I'm perfectly willing to believe it was not some guy working with Parlock if that's what comes of it. Michele Malkin is perfectly willing to believe the opposite too if it does turn out that way.

I have just pinged you with links for anyone to e-mail the Mayor of Columbus and the Columbus Dispatch newspaper.

I don't want to hear of this in my town again, and I invite anyone who feels the same way to help out by telling the-powers-that-be here so.

Dude, did you see Sharpton's speech at the DNC?

Have you seen even half the speeches that Kerry and Edwards have given? "Anger" (and/or angry accusations, which are the same thing) are very much a defining trait for these guys these days.
