This is great! Daschle on the ropes, I never thought it would happen.

Good news, for America.

You know what's even better about that? Daschle has spent over $13 million in this election. That's twice what Thune has spent and works out to be around $17.00/per citizen of South Dakota.

Works out well for us here in Nevada - our Harry Reid will likely be Senate Minority leader next year...and Reid's a good guy (for all those who think I can never have a nice thing to say about a Democrat); son of a hard-rock miner here in Nevada, and he hasn't forgotten his roots...still too much of a liberal Democrat for my taste, but if we must have a Democratic Senator, he's the one to have.

Anyone who seriously studies politics knows money doesn't win elections, Rob. But that's a lesson some people studiously refuse to learn.

Dean,
Money seems to have won the election in New Jersey. Corzine spent $36 million to win the Democratic primary and another $24 million to win the election.

Corzine was also running against a very weak Republican opponent in a solidly Democratic state, Ted.

All money can do is get a candidate attention and enough visibility to be credible. Beyond that, it's a luxury that makes a barely measurable difference, according to any study of it that I've ever seen.

If you don't believe it, just ask Senator Huffington. Or President Forbes. Or President Perot. Or Democratic Nominee Howard Dean.

:-)

I know money doesn't win election. It doesn't win baseball games either. Ask the Yankees.

I was simply pointing out the astronomical amount of money being spent by Daschle in SD. He'd be better off buying each citizen a steak dinner. It probably would have been cheaper.

Catch 22:
Tom Daschle needs to get out his $ 250.00 auto muffler and promise every one in the state a new one.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
