Getting Old Sucks

President Clinton has heart problems and will undergo surgery soon.

I have my issues with you, Mr. President, but please get well soon.

Not to worry, folks. I had similar symptoms last Sept 22nd, actually more - a full fledged heart attack, and the cardiologists were able to clean up the 2 blockages and place stents with little problems. And they have good meds like Plavix and Lipitor/Zocor, and so 'ole Bill will be fine. Though, it would have been nice if the problems hadent occured in the first place. Best of luck, Pres Bill!! Hope you recover very soon, and are back chassing you know what!!!

It is good for any man over the age of 40 to know what his cholesterol is and get it down under 200. It's not a guarantee of good health, but it does improve your odds.

Time for Bill to lay off the fries and hit the treadmill...as I rapidly approach 40 myself I begin to perceive a lot of annoying things I'll have to start doing...

Here's to President Clinton's speedy recovery.

But Bill Clinton's too young for this!

I know that he's probably older now than when he took office 12 years ago, but I still can't concieve of him having a heart attack.

And somehow it just doesn't seem appropriate. Bill Clinton shouldn't get old.

I hope that he recovers soon.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Clinton family. My grandfather had bypass surgery last year, and it is a nerve wracking thing, waiting to hear that he is okay.

I think it's very likely he'll be fine, but my prayers go out to him too.

Chris,

I had a close friend die a couple years ago because of blocked arteries. It was a shock because he was only 36. That is too young. My brother-in-law's Dad died of it too, he was only 54 and in otherwise excellent health. Unfortunately, it happens.

The very fact that they found out about his heart problems before he dropped dead means that he's got a really good chance of a full recovery.

Amazing to think that a couple of decades ago, bypass surgery was new and dangerous...

And yes, good health, Mr. Clinton.

I've been working the treadmills every day for one hour at 4mph since early 1996. But as most of you know, weight loss is a simple process of working your ass off and starvation. So don't go getting unrealistic about all this unless you do both in tandem.

Bill Clinton, every time your dick and your face both got red as a cherry when you dropped your pants and showed off your equipment to some Arkansas state government office girl (willing or just surprised), or whomever the hell else you hit on back in your glory days, your body was trying to signal something to your brain beside the fact that you might have to go to court and have your friends pay to defend you.

Now the next time you get a surreptitious blow job, it might just give you a heart attack. Oh well, maybe every woman in America will swoon over your corpse, while it lies in state in the Capitol, and while Hilary stands at your side. Smiling slightly and privately.

Even so, get well, big dog. Get well. And lay off the carbs.

This is why I laugh when people go on about how Cheney's health is too precarious and therefore he shouldn't be VP.

At least Cheney's ticker has been looked at in GREAT detail with a catheterization or two. We know. that at this point in time, it's unlikely anything is going to happen to him. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets one regularly.

However, no one is going to cath a seemingly healthy guy with no symptoms. It's too risky. But remember, half the time, the first symptom of heart disease is an MI. And, despite all the warnings about treating high cholesterol and smoking, half of all people with coronary artery disease don't have any risk factors. We talk a lot about risk factors because at least most of those can be changed (except age, sex and family history).

So you just never know. But I wouldn't be blaming Bill's ills on a bad diet and sedentary life just yet, although it makes the rest of us feel better to do so.
