Greetings From Joe Gandelburger Under The White Bigtop...(Joe Gandelman)
Joe Gandelman
This is being written from the beautiful town of Afton, Wyoming. With its mountains, log cabin motif (my fair-provided motel room is a log cabin with an excruciatingly sloooooooooow Internet connection...that I get by paying AT&T $6 an hour on its 800 number access code), cowboy bars, etc. you can envision the Old West...and gunfighters (which inspired a political post I will link to very shortly).
So far in Wyoming, each county fair on this
"circuit" has had me perform under an old-fashioned white bigtop. It's quite exciting. We're checking out early Saturday but we will have posts here today...and by Sunday we will be in another Wyoming city -- this time in a room with high speed internet.
PS: Vaudeville is alive and well. You can find it at your local county fair. No kidding...

My laptop went down July 14 and I just got it back wednesday. Kinkos charges $8.00 an hour and had some kind of firewall protection so I could not get my e-mail from my high speed cable. I couldn't get it from our big main library or any branches. Man, I realized just how spoiled I am having the high speed, well for that manner a great laptop.
Wyoming is so beautiful. I went there I think it was 1967 with my precious little toddler son. Oh man, he stole the show. Everywhere we went people loved him. Those piercing big blue eyes swayed all the women. I took him to see Little Joe of Bonanza. Well, I wanted to see Michael Landon...truth be known. We were there for the Cheyenne Rodeo Days. Ole' Michael Landen all dressed up in a swell looking cowboy outfit came charging in on a beautiful white stallion. They circled the rodeo and when Michael Landen came down off that horse he came right towards me! I was holding my bundle of joy that just learned to walk and Michael Landen looked at my toddler and patted him on his cute little chubby cheeks. I really thought I might fall over like women fell all over Elvis. Sure glad I was holding my baby! WOW, that made my day, no...my week, no...my year!
Good to see ya here Joe.
Afton is home to Rulon Gardner, the young man who stole the gold from undefeated Russian wrestler Karelin, in 2000. Going to get his second one this year in Greece.. after damn near freezing to death after his snowmobile wrecked and he stayed out all night in the coldest spot in the lower 48. Go Rulon!
Get some good cheese while you're there, Joe- and are you coming to Billings for MontanaFair?
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
