God I Love Her

The Queen is unhappy with Governor Schwartzenegger.

Actually, Dean and Rosemary, I felt (as a NATIVE Californian who voted Republican in our recent gubernatorial circus, though not for Schwarzennegger) that this kind of remark was not befitting of someone holding the office of Governor of the state with the world's sixth largest economy. We have enough hurdles to get past without stupidity like this calling up the spector of a fiasco that included candidates like Gary Coleman, Mary Carey and Angeline.

Yeah, you're right.

But God, I still love her. :-)

And well you should! I thought her comment was funny, don't get me wrong, between private parties I have no issue but Arnie blewit almost as badly as he did a few weeks ago with the animal euthanasia deal.

I'm with the Terminator. I wish more politicians would have the guts to speak their minds and tell the unvarnished truth, instead of being such namby-pambies. "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.", as another outspoken man once said.

And, by the way: "nattering nabobs of negativism"

If you can't stand the heat blah blah blah is fine. But a direct and childish attack like Schwarzennegger's is a symptom of the greater problem we are now facing in our national politics: Unprecedented, and completely unnecessary, partisan attacks. There is nothing professional or dignified in the way both parties are behaving and , as an American, I am ashamed of both parties and the light it puts us in around the world. It's time for all of our politicos to grow the fuck up.

Unprecedented? You mean, as when Lincoln was caricatured as an ape or when Jefferson was called "the bastard son of an Indian woman"? And you think other countries don't have acrimonious politics? Schwartzenegger is right. We have become a nation of wimps. This incident itself proves it.

Citing one or two incidents doesn't prove your case Steve. I will give you that if the possibilities for exchange of information that we have today were available in Lincoln or Jefferson'r time, perhaps it would seem no different. However, I don't even recall personal attacks four years ago being this vicious. And if one measures a man by the depths to which he can sink and the lack of professionalism he can evince during an election, I am glad that I, for one, don't have to stoop so low to reach so high.

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
