A new Gallup poll shows that by overwhelming majorities, most Americans believe that race relations in America are pretty good. Although blacks are the most pessimistic group, even most of them see things as more positive than negative.

2. A group of people united or classified together on the basis of common history, nationality, or geographic distribution.
Hardly mystifying. Yes, race relations are better and getting better. And as a black man, I'm still more pessimistic than other races. But I'm positive that we can grow, see color, respect it, and move on.
Race makes sense if you accept categories which are only approximations of reality.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
