Dean's World

Defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy.

Universal Constant Not Fixed?

Hmm. Einstein's universal constant may not be as constant as he thought.

This isn't the first time I've heard that theory, but it's interesting to see that it's getting taken seriously.

I think Einstein would have appreciated the analysis and debate of his theory. He himself was in a continual state of proving and dispoving his own theories. Lovely, science is just lovely.

Oh well, so much for the old bumper sticker, "The Speed of Light: It's Not Just a Good Idea, It's the Law!" :)

This is truly interesting, because I remember hearing about someone who claimed that the speed of light used to be higher in the past. (I believe his conclusions were dismissed by much of the scientific community). Now here's evidence that seems to suggest that the speed of light may have been lower in the past. Weird.

It sounds as if God couldn't make up His mind! :-)

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.

Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
