I once gave a satirical speech on why California should pull out of the Union. It wasn’t taken as funny-- most of my audience agreed with the sentiments. 3 years ago it would have taken only 1 good nudge for us to ask to leave...
Yeah to all the above. When I was a kid, living on and off in West Hollywood, you could buy great tacos from street vendors. Sort of like red hots in Chicago and New York. That sort of declined over the years, along with West Hollywood, last I heard.
But the golden state still has its moments, like that weirdly magic day in October 2003. (If your name is Arnold, you more or less automatically get my political support. Especially if you're a Republican.)
I've been saying this for years! Having just spent 2 weeks in the L.A area for vacation though, I have to admit that it is nice to have a "foreign country" to visit that doesn't require even the minimal bother of going into Canada, as it uses not only the same language,(well, kind of) but the same money (although it seems to devalue somewhat upon crossing the CA border).

Commenting on Dean's World is a privilege, not a right. Dean is your host, you are his guest, and you should behave in that fashion. Dean is not your babysitter, nor is he your punching bag. Please remember this. In general, you are free to disagree with anyone on any subject you wish, but abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
Of course we all lose our tempers now and then. Dean freely admits to being imperfect in this regard, which is why regulars to this establishment will generally be cut more slack than people who we don't know very well.
Still: behave like an adult, or go find somewhere else to play. Thanks.
