Why Gmail Is Cool
Josh Claybourn tells the story succinctly.
It doesn't sound like much. Yet, I've been using email for more than 20 years, and this is the best mail app I've ever worked with. Period.
I can't wait until they release client software for this thing.
I just got my invite today. The biggest thing that will sell G-Mail is the ability to import my existing mail into the service. Once I can put my 100+mb of mail into it, life will be better. ;-)
Brian,
I already tested this - everything went well!

I've been hearing a lot about Gmail, here on Dean's World as well as elsewhere. But isn't it true that, at least so far, Gmail doesn't work with the Opera browser?
If so, then at least for the time being (seeing as I don't care for Opera's built-in email client, M2) I'm sticking with Sylpheed-Claws for email.

I'm not sure if dialup users would be big fans of Gmail anyway. They might, but since it wouldn't allow you to see your mail while offline, it might not be to your liking.
The flip side is that you can get to your mail from any internet-accessible computer. That's a tradeoff I'm happy to make. But I've also got broadband access at home and at work.
Speaking of which, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work with Opera. It does require Javascript, but I thought Opera worked with that.
Dean, Opera does work with javascript— in the old days, Opera's support of javascript was rather flaky, but with Opera 7 that's much improved.
However, I have heard that Opera presently doesn't work with Gmail. Why not, I don't know.
