U.N. On Anti-Semitism

Mark Firestone notes that the U.N. apparently doesn't take its first-ever conference on anti-Semitism seriously. Unfortunate.

Since when has the UN taken ANYTHING it does seriously?

You mean aside from helping Third World dictators loot their countries, in return for a share of the take?

Peruse their site. They take the supposed Israeli subjugation of Palestinians VERY seriously, while ignoring the fact that terrorism is the cause of the strife between Israel and the Pals. And that is the problem.

Nah.
They condemn Israel and support tyrants just for fun (in between cocktail receptions).
Actually, I agree that they get a lot of corrupt money, but I just define that as what "UN employees" do, not what the "UN" does.

The UN is what UN employees do, or more accurately, are allowed to consistently get away with.

I don't take the UN seriously, except for wanting US to get out of it before it does become a serious menace to us -- as it was to the people of Katanga.

OK, I'll be clearer.
The UN does not take any of its official jobs seriously.
OK, anybody dispute that?
:)

Maor - Have you looked at their website or read Anne Bayefsky's speech?

Posted by Mark D. Firestone on June 29, 2004 at 7:23 AM

I didn't look at the website.
I read Anne's speech. She and I seem to agree on pretty much everything, although I might have said "UN antisemitism conference?" followed by uncontrolled laughter rather than give a speech.

I'm just saying that the UN does EVERYTHING wrong, even when Jews are not involved.
