What we need is to make it harder for people with kids to get divorced. A law won't work for this unless society is ready for it, so the first thing is for people/advice columnists/newspaper articles/magazines/novels/dramas/comedies etc., to start disapproving of people with kids who divorce.

It seems I ignored the point of the piece. You and the article are quite right. It is a daymare to contemplate the horrors I might have to go through to see my kids if we got divorced. Fifteen years, and I hope my love and I see fifty.

My brother is a divorced father of three. His wife won't work and is determined to live off of what is supposed to be child support until the youngest child turns 18 (in 4 years).

I have witnessed the California courts bend over backwards to ensure that my brother pays the maximum in child support. Yet, they do nothing to force my brother's ex-wife to become gainfully employed. She has a B.A. and a teaching credential, yet she hasn't earned more than $450 a month in the last 7 years!

Why should this woman work when she can get $2,000 a month for doing nothing? As a result, there has been nothing put away for the kids' college educations. Their father has to live in a one-bedroom apartment and is always one paycheck away from being homeless.

Now, my brother's wife has convinced the two oldest kids that their father is too strict and that they should allow her to have full custody. She is taking him to court to get even MORE child support money!

The courts need to force women to take their share of financial responsibility. Families can't make it on a single income these days. When one of these divorced mothers makes child support her only source of income, the father ends up getting the shaft. They also need to audit these women to ensure that child support money is being spent on the kids instead of crack cocain!

Here are a few billboards that I would like my former sister-in-law to see:

"Mommy, why don't you get a job so I can go to college?"

"Mommy, why do you buy designer dresses for yourself instead of braces for my crooked teeth?"

"Mommy, why did you get knocked up by another guy while you where married to Daddy and then make his life a living hell when he divorced you?"

What seems doubly ironic is that often times men get so fed up with their ex-wives not allowing them their custody rights that they stop paying child support-- and then begin the entire hell that deadbeat dads are stuck with...

A good friend of mine’s children ended up with his Ex-wife (their mother). He was ordered to pay child support that ate up all but roughly US$5 each paycheck. While he did end up with visitation (and that visitation wasn’t interfered with), he was just barely able to stay alive. He says he still doesn’t know how it happened...

All of which is really a bitch about child support, but doesn't seem out of place here...

This whole situation is another result of the Left's promotion of victimhood as a way of life.

The child support issue is far down on the list...

The undeniable truth is that 70 percent of black babies are brought into this world without the benefit of married parents, no fathers living with them or even involve in their lives. If black liberals find the ads offensive, tough. They need to go out into the community and address promiscuity and immorality in the black community instead of starting a crusade against bus ads, for cying out loud.

What La Shawn said. There are too many black "fathers" out there who have never seen fit to give their children the benefit of having their name, much less any of the other things that a child should look to when looking for the guidance of real men in their lives.

The father examples given in the ad show the men who are the exceptions. The statistics show the norm.

Fathers are evil male chauvinist patriarchal oppressors -- except Elian Gonzales's father, who was a Communist who wanted his son to grow up under Castro, and Big mama Janet Reno helped him.
