Fantasia Wins

It was nice to hear that Fantasia won, but this season lacked the interest that last seasons American Idol held for me.

Mind you, it was clear that the finalists were all phenomenally talented, and I take nothing away from the winner or the othr contestants.

Despite all the snarkage, this is a good show that does an excellent job of bringing phenomenal singers to national attention. Those who make it to the top in this show are invariably in the top one tenth of one percent of singing talent. You don't find these people in karaoke bars or most church choirs except on rare occasion.

Yet every time I tuned in this season, most of the song choices and arrangements simply sucked. Two or three shows of that and I stopped being interested. I think the Barry Manilow episode and the Elton John episodes may have soured me on the series forever.

But all that said? It's still a great show and a great concept. I hope to catch it next season. Maybe I'll be less disappointed than I was in this season.

I used to love AI, but they drag out these shows to the point of torture.

TWO HOURS to tell us Fantasia won? C'mon, already.

Dean, I love your blog even though we disagree over certain things. However, you may have lost a reader forever due to your dislike of Elton John. That stuff belongs in The Louvre!

Yeah Dean, some of those musical arrangements were terrible. The shows with the bands rocked. Miami Sound Machine and the Big Band show was good. They should use a live band all the time. Give good musicians some work.

Fantasia has a unique voice and stage presence that I love. Was my favorite from the beginning.

There are so many styles of songs they could sing, obviously they cannot please everybody and the arrangements may be more for showcasing the singer's talents than the song.

Both girls were fantastic easily better than the last two winners and runner ups.

I only watched a few shows including the final sing off but enjoyed it and plan to watch more next year.

As a choir soloist, I know how much talent these singers have and it is awesome that a 16 year old can sing like that.

I don't dislike Elton John. I disliked most of the covers they did of his music though.

It's not that I don't like a good cover, either. I do.

Am i the only one that thought Fantasia was amazing, but thought Di Garmo sounded like a little kid screaming into the mic? Very nasally voice. Latoya London was leagues better.

Whew! Ok, Dean. As long as I know...

Well, I think Fantasia sound was just a bit to "worshipy" for me. I htought Latoya was the star. Diana is young..to much of a little Kelly Clarkson ( but not as talented ). Who knows. I was addicted this season and I will be addicted the next.
