Just looked, and read the comment discussion between you and him. Apparently "liberal" isn't the only word he needs to look up, if he thinks that was a flame war.

I don't think the two are opposites at all, but, rather, complement each other. I consider myself to be both liberal (defending individual freedom of thought, expression, and association) and conservative (conserving ancient and eternal values). Above all, I'm an individualist.
