New MT Blacklist
If you're running Movable Type version 2.661 or earlier, you should probably be aware that MT-Blacklist has been updated to fix a major bug that spammers can exploit.
If you're one of those folks I've installed Blacklist for, and you'd like me to upgrade you, just drop me a line. It's no big deal.
Although, for the record, I plan on abandoning Movable Type soon myself. It looks like I'll be switching to Powerblogs.
Thanks for the warning. Making the upgrade was really easy.
Why the switch?
Well, my needs are robust enough that I'm making MT creak and groan. I need something faster and more robust and MT 3.0 doesn't have what I need. Powerblogs' software does.
It's very nice, really. Volokh uses it too.
Why not go for Typepad? They let you have your own domain too, you know. And as it's centralized (like powerblogs), your blog's weight shouldn't be making anything creak and/or groan.
Well, basically, I'm liking what I see of Powerblogs. Also I like having the mamil server, the FTP server, the list server, the flexibility to install Wiki or whatever the heck else I want, etc.
I think I upgraded but all I seem to have done was FTP one file. I hope I did it right.
Thanks, Dean. This post inspired me to finally get around to installing it.
