You know, I keep seeing commercials for "women's laxative." This always annoys me. I understand, somewhat, that women tend to have a bit more trouble with constipation than men do. But is there anything in these "women's laxatives" that somehow just women need? Like it mixes with estrogen to make pretty girl-poops or something?
My favorite product like this is called "Correctol: The Woman's Gentle Laxative." Its other slogan: "For Gentle, Dependable overnight relief." Doesn't that sound nice? Ahhh. Gentle, womanly laxative!
As it happens, however, if you check the ingredients list you find out that the stuff is no different from good old Ex-Lax. Don't tell the women who buy the "woman's gentle laxative" that, though. They probably don't want to hear it. From what I understand, the "woman's gentle laxative" sells like beer out of a liquor story on the border of a dry county.
As silly as this seems, though, it does give me an idea for a competing product:
Nitro-Lax: The Brutal Man-Laxative. A quarter stick of dynamite in every tablet!
Its other slogan: "When ya gotta go NOW, DAMMIT!
Whattaya think? Would it sell?
Anyone want to design the box? :-)
* Update * We have our box!
I am certain that if you sell it, people will buy it. Such is human nature. I am sure that it would make for excellent practical jokes. "Special Brownies" would take on a whole new urgency with Nito-Lax. The name is great, BTW. As for the Box, ask Allah. I am sure that the Creator of Worlds would be more than willing to oblige.
Excellet idea. The prayer has been uttered!
You betcha Dean. Nitro-Lax would be painted as advertisement on race cars. Jackets, helmets, t-shirts, touting...REAL MEN USE NITRO-LAX. NASCAR fans everwhere will be clamering to buy not bobbing heads of Jeff Gorden, but Jeff Gorden dolls shaking and bopping his buttocks!
ROFL
this'll teach me to drink coffee and read the morning blogs
Anyone want to design the box?
The obvious answer is "Sheeit, yes!" but I'm not the person to do it.
Dean, boys, I'm not sure you quite understand.
It's not that ladies have stiffer s**t, or gentlemen hotter s**t. The whole point of laxatives is so that aspiring bulemic supermodels don't have to rot their teeth from vomiting bile all the time.
Now, you see, your mens laxative market would probably be the aspiring male bulemic supermodel. And as i'm sure you'd agree, these just are not real men. They are supermen.
Can I suggest, if you really would like this product to sell, a package that implies, perhaps, endurance and virility.
You crack me up, Dean! Thanks. I really needed that today.
This is reminding me of how if you compare prices on women's razors vs. men's . . . well, let's just say I'm not paying a buck or two more just to have a razor that's Barbie pink. I've been converted to the Gilette Mach 3 and I'm not going back.
Too funny.
Don't let the "overnight" and "gentle" fool you.
Women abuse laxatives to keep from absorbing food.
Phenolthalein was the best active ingredient for this purpose, I think it's banned in over the counter laxatives now....
Abusers would eat that chocolate e-lax like...candy.
That said, women's GI tracts are more subject to fluctuation in function because of hormones - especially in the post-partum period.
Coming soon to a store near you...
NITRO-LAX
But it already exists !
Guinness.
Just a suggestion, but if you switch to a vegan diet, you'll spend a lot less time looking at laxative boxes.
I'm just sayin', is all...
Vegan diets are unhealthy and unnatural. They also tend to give you gas. No thanks. ;-)
Vegan diets are perfectly healthy, if you are native to Vega.
Well, that's certainly what *I'm* after -- pretty girlie-poops.
Actually, vegan diets can be very healthy (including dramatically lowering your risk of most types of cancer) but you have to have the discipline and the money to make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need. Most vegans don't. I know I don't have either the discipline OR the money and so I definately won't be going vegan anytime soon.
Good old chewing tobacco'll take care of ya, if you can hold it down.
"Snoose does what theirs does for about the same price!" All right, it's a rip-off of the old Suave slogan. I can't be sued if I don't make money off it.
Have a look some time at Beyond Vegetarianism for a very comprehensive analysis of the health problems caused by vegetarian and vegan diets, and the frequent claim that you have to "do it right." For many people, there is no right way to do it, it's just a bad idea period. Since the site is run entirely by current and former vegans and vegetarians, and is scrupulously researched, you'll get a lot out of it.
Vegan diets are certainly not natural by any stretch of the imagination. As to whether they're healthy, well, some people derive some health benefits from them, yes, but they also screw up some people's health badly.
Just go check out the site.
a plethora of problems are also caused by non-vegan diets.
how's the nitro-lax working?
Dean wrote: "and the frequent claim that you have to "do it right.""
Hmm, sounds like a Socialist's trademark phrase....
Yep. You'll find that documented very well on the Beyond Vegetarianism site: just how often people got sick on vegan and/or vegetarian diets and were told they were just screwing up and not doing it right. A lot of them tried for years untl finally they started putting animal flesh back in their diets and suddenly looked and felt one hell of a lot better.
Read the site. It's good.
I have two vegan friends (my former roommate and his best friend) and either one could beat the crap out of me (and one's a girl). They are both healthy as can be and incredibly strict in their veganism (except that my roommate eats honey). The girl has been vegan for 13 years. She initially got sick when she went vegan, so she studied up and began taking the appropriate supplements and ensured she was eating the right foods. Now she's healthier than my meat-eating self self is, and has been that way for a long time. This is why I say that veganism does not have to be unhelthy provided it is undertaken properly. That being said, I'd never go vegan as I don't have the disicipline or the desire to stay away from animal products nor to I have the money to supplement the missing nutrients back into my diet.
I will agree with you that veganism is not natural. It's no more natural than meat-centerd diets that have become the norm in our culture. A diet that most reflects the natural needs of the human body is vegetable centered with at least one meat side-dish a day, preferably a meat-side dish with each meal. Typically an American meal consists of a meat-entree with vegetable-sides which is not healthy or natural either.
To maintain peek phsycial health, we all should be supplementing anyways because we have over-farmed and processed to the point that the foods we eat don't contain all the nutrients needed to keep are body in top form. But that costs money so most of us (myself included) will settle for doing the best we can without breaking the bank and ultimately end up dyign of heart disease, cancer, etc.
