I've been threatening Dean that I would post this article, but he didn't believe me.
"Go ahead," he taunted, "You don't have the guts!"
A fatal error on his part. :) So now I present to you, the first demi-annual monthly Thursday Dean's World roundup. In other words, the guest bloggers currently hosting DW. We have:
dowingba (Tao of dowingba)
Lachlan my so-called blog
just a girl just a girl in the world
me (Casey) The Gantry Launchpad
I already knew dowingba, but the ladies are new to me. I feel very priveleged to be co-hosting Dean's World with them. They're all great folks!
-dowingba (Chris) is from Canada, but we try not to hold that against him, mainly because he's one of three known liberals to support Bush's war on terrorism.
Even though he is a Canuck, Chris never says "eh" in any of his posts, although he is very polite. Chris enjoys blogging about politics, science, movies, and especially music, Most unusual recent entry: the cat guillotine, and no I'm not making that up.
Alas, dowingba is not all cool. He displays a distressing affection for old Nirvana tunes, and has absolutely no taste in color schemes at all...
-Lachlan lives in Seattle, where she terrorizes innocent soccer players as a referee. There is, however, no truth to the rumor that she channels R. Lee Ermy during a game.
Lachlan (Yes, it's Scottish. I already asked her so you, in the back, shut up!) is a charming redhead originally from Ohio. We Ohioians rock! We aren't as polite as Canadians, but we come pretty close. She has a nifty bio on her blog, as well as a list of "100 things about me." (# 93: "Robert Heinlein is my favorite science-fiction author. Roger Zelazny is a close second.") Anyone with that kind of excellent taste has to be very cool.
She likes to blog about an eclectic mix of topics. Most interesting recent post(can't find a permalink): her answer to this question: "Have the lifetime channel make a movie out of your life OR the playboy channel?" Answer: "Neither- I want Ilene Chaiken of L Word to do a stylish, slightly fictionalized version of my life. I’d have money, great clothes, and women falling all over me. Yeah, that’s the ticket."
-just a girl (Lisa) has an annoyingly original and attractive blog design. She is apparently from Texas (I forgot to ask her before I started writing this) and is involved with about 3,271 different things in her life right now, including hospice care, web design, and very tasty-sounding recipies.
Lisa tells me the photo on her blog is not her, but Angelina Jolie. Judging from the topics she has talked about the past few days on her blog, she is incredibly good at multi-tasking. She recently purchased a Mongoose cross-country bike, so that's three of us (Lach, Lisa, myself) who like bicycling. This is very cool.
Most interesting recent post: turning down "an incredibly cute guy" in the supermarket while discussing asparagus. :)
-me. I'm from Cincinnati, and still live five minutes south of Hamilton, Ohio, a few miles away from the Great Miami river, and have trouble writing clever things about myself. A couple of folks have told me that I'm halfway decent at this "putting words on paper" stuff, but I don't listen 'cause I know better. :)
I like to write about a relatively specific range of topics, but those are varied, from rockets, to politics, to military stuff, to humor and movies. It should be no surprise that I used to collect GI Joes when I was a kid. These days I collect antique computers. I don't know if that's very cool, but it is very geeky. :)
Most interesting recent post? Heck, I don't know. (embarassed look) Y'all tell me what you like from the Launchpad...
These are all great people, and I'm lucky to have met them.
Dude, don't go around telling people about my lack of "Eh" saying. They're...listening. They hear all transmittions...
In all seriousness, though, I do say "Eh" all the time (although less these days since it's some big "stereotype" now apparently), but I usually keep it more formal in print, you know?
I consciously made it a point not to link to my own site while guest-posting here, so thanks for doing it for me. Whew, that's a load off. Let the Deanlanche begin!
Casey! I'm speechless. Thank you. :)
Excellent post, Casey.
This is one of those - "Hey I wished I had thought of that" posts! :)
Thanks, muchly :)
Oh - and I'm a misplaced Texan living in Wisconsin. Born in Texas, tho :)
