Sen. Dodd Is Sorry (Rosemary, the QOAE)

Senator Chris Dodd apologizes to those of us that were offended by his Byrd tribute.

"Words can sting and hurt," Dodd told The Associated Press Wednesday. "If in any way, in my referencing the Civil War, I offended anyone, I apologize."

He said he was trying to make the point that Byrd would have been a good senator at any point, and "I was not thinking of the KKK or his vote against the Civil Rights Act."

You know what? It didn't really make the mainstream news. He could have ignored it and it would have gone away. He didn't and that says a lot about his integrity. It's a better apology than Trent Lott delivered and it's good enough for me.

Good on you, Sen Dodd. Good on you.

What about Byrd's vote for the Gulf of Tonkin resolution?

Heh.

Good for Dodd. Maybe a little less defensiveness from the White House would help our cause. Oh, phooey. Now I have to comment over at Ara's, or he'll use my own words against me. Here's what I said over there:

"I will admit that we could use a White House that did not appear so defensive. I've seen both POTUS and VPOTUS exercise self deprecating humor to good effect, most lately in the press conference. Maybe a dose of that would help, if the tone-deaf, arrogant press would report it."

As you can see, I love to use Ara's words against him.

Wince

The behavior by the press and the left at large is/was disgraceful and they should be held accountable. Now that Dodd's apologized and set the example... their turn.

HH,

Sorry, but the right also needs to be held accountable. The left is not a bunch of lying, treasonous, political hacks. Most of the left is busy working, raising their kids, taking care of the house, etc., just like most of the right. There are bad apples as well as good apples with some bad habits on both sides. When we see ad hominem and other bad habits on the right we must call them out, too.

Yours,
Wince
