Oh. My. God.

It's 3:00 in the morning. Yes, I'm awake even though I have the night off. Just polished off another chapter of the novel, and am now watching an infomercial for Time-Life Music.

It's one of those half-hour infomercials. Talk show format. People sitting around talking about the product. It's called Legends: Ultimate Rock Collection.

Sounds pretty typical, right? Seen a million things like it? Yeah probably, but here's the thing: Roger Daltry is one of the hosts of our little infomercial.

Not featured on it. Actually participating. Telling me how he's "never seen an incredible collection like this" and raving about "great artists" like Steve Miller, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Byrds, Cheap Trick, Kiss, Boston, and so on.

Not that I disagree per se, since I dig a lot of that music, but, but....

Words fail me.

Times must be tough in the Daltry household though.

This is one of the most depressing things I've read in a good long time.

Heh. Then you haven't seen the Victoria's Secret ad yet, the one starring Bob Dylan.

Never thought I'd see:
The Who for Hummer H2
Led Zeppelin for Cadillac
Dylan for Victorias Secret (to be fair he did say back in the 60s he would sell out for ladies undergarments. Well who wouldn't?)
Mountain for ...I'm sorry. This is just too depressing.

depends on how you look at it, I remember an interview with Michael Caine where he was asked why he did Jaws 4 (or whatever # it was). His reply was that his wife wanted to renovate the garden and it paid for the job plus a new deck.

you make that sound like a bad thing.

I don't mind using old tracks in commercials. And the Dylan ad is classy.

This isn't the same thing. It's.... it's....

Heh, good see you had a productive day as well. Manage to pump out 3 CD reviews, most of a short story and 2.5 new sets of lyrics for my band.

It's a phrase we use here in the South. It's just wrong!

The one that got me was Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" in a beer commercial. Yep, that's a song that really inspires a cheerful party mood. :-)

Personally I find the Girls Gone Wild Infomercial more entertaining. Repetitive, but who cares. ;-)

Get some sleep, Dean.

The other night I saw Daltry hosting a history show about the old west. A British musician from the 60's seemed like a strange choice for that subject, but he did a decent job.

I think Daltrey can blame Pete Townshend for having to do such crappy work like infomercials and hosting documentaries. Pete, write Roger some songs, record it and take it on the road like you guys used to do so well.

Maybe Daltry's just a bored millionaire.
