Mark Adams (Rosemary, the QOAE)

He couldn't stand it anymore. Mark Adams has started a blog. We are adding him to the blogroll. Dispassionate Liberalism looks like great fodder for us evil Conservatives and Libertarians!

It's feeding time kids! Watch out for him, he can be very tricky, sometimes he uses "real" facts.

Silly liberal! Facts are for conservatives...

I'm already over there, explaining that Bush is quite smart, for those who are oblivious to the obvious. Say Bush is an idiot, or imply it, and I conclude you are as stupid as I was twenty years ago when I said the same about Reagan.

I did get one fact wrong. Bush's SAT score was 1206, which was 44 points too low for Mensa. I did remember his IQ was in the 97th percentile correctly.

Yours,
Wince

Thanks for the link Rose, you're a Queen. (but you knew that already)

Wince:
I scored in the top 98 percent in the ACT. Earned me the right to party my face off at whatever college I could afford. My name's not Bush unfortunately. But I'll concede that other than the quality of beer they drank at Harvard, he deserved to act as drunk and stupid as this recovering college student.

Wince,

An SAT score of 1206 is at least a current impossibility, since all SAT scores are divisible by 10. Now, GWB took the SAT some years before I was born, so they might have changed the scoring methodology. Do you know if this is true?

Hrrmmm.... from the masthead: "Thinking person's bunker for sane liberals and disgruntled republicans. Changing minds one opinion at a time. Exposing the lack of compassion by conservatives and debunking right wing hypocrisy at every opportunity."

No mention of exposing lack of compassion by illiberals or debunking any left wing hipocrisy at any opprotunity. They must not have any, huh? *snicker*

No thanks, Rosemary - I'll stick with places that take shots at both sides indiscriminately. What few there are.

Sam:
Scores were different back then.

Ironbear,

That's the beauty of it. I will go there and take pot shots at the liberals. Gotta keep them libs honest!

They changed the SAT in 1996 or so. The change resulted in approximately a 100 point increase in the average score. So my 1420 is only worth about 1320 points, pre-1996.

Also, Mensa admits the smartest 2%, according to a number of standardized IQ tests. The SAT isn't an IQ test, and a high score on that test doesn't directly affect (or effect) Mensa qualification.

Personally, I don't think the president is brilliant by any means, but we mustn't take his regional quirks (such as "NUKE-yoo-lar") to mean that he's dumb.

The link says OLD SAT scores are accepted by Mensa. You know otherwise?

My sats in 1960 totalled thirteen or fourteen hundred something - the highest in the incoming freshman engineering class. I was also the first to bomb out of the AP engineering program. I've since realized that what I learned in school was mostly how to take tests.

Incidentally I scored 138 on the online I.Q. test thats going around. so much for tests eh?
