Heathrow Targeted

According to Powerline, the Sunday Times reports that Bin Laden ordered attacks on Heathrow for revenge against Tony Blair. Interesting. Given that Al Qaeda has been so badly crippled over the last two years, it's not surprising that they never managed to pull it off. But they did manage to pull off something similar in Spain, where public anti-US sentiment was greater and where they have an easier time operating unnoticed. Hmmmm....

(Thanks Matt.)

Dean, you forgot to mention that they planned to take revenge on Blair before he had done anything.

Revenge for what?

Well, the quoted part from the Sunday times says it was for Blair's "support for the US." So now I'm confused, John.

The reason they (Al-Q) were able to hit Spain so easily is more a function of geography than anything else. To hit Spain, one must flow through the Moroccan border, which I understand is fairly easy to do. To get at England, they would have to go through most of Europe, something that is far harder to do without making any screw-ups...
