This is absolutely wonderful. I am thrilled at the thought this will help so many, many people be able to actually feel like they have a part of their lives back in enabling them to have hope for their future.
Imagine being able to input keystrokes into a small portable computer without having to lug around a keyboard or "type" using awkward number-key interfaces.
Next, imagine remote controlled robots. If they can send back video and other inputs, you can perform any task that you could do on-site without actually being on-site. Remote controlled robot soldiers could operate on the ground without any real flesh-and-blood human beings having to be in harms way, or even leave the country.
Of course, all the on-site professionals who thought that they were safe from outsourcing.... well, aren't. Imagine foreign plumbers operating robots in their customers' homes.
Maybe this century will turn out to be worth something after all. Could be interesting.
Its weird.. sometimes I lose track of which of these advances are still theoretical, working prototypes, proof of principle stage etc... But I was watching a discovery channel program of a guy with a robotic limb strapped to his (armless) left shoulder and moving it up and down, double jointed (he could turn it the whole way back... pretty cool) - so what's the difference here, am I missing something?
Dean, if this technology were applied to computers, you could control your favorite browser (Firefox) by thinking in Russian. ;)

Holy shit!!! I just upgraded my Charter Cable Internet service, and it flies. Pages that loaded before merely blink now. It's quite something to see.

This isn't going to just help paraplegics.

Now, we just need to combine it with this puppy!
Ha! I'll link that!
I wonder, what laws cover brain hacking?
