The Margolis Incident
Here's more on Kerry supporters assaulting Bush supporters in Boston, with links to national news sources that also covered the incident.
We'll be fighting in the streetsIt sure would be nice to see the Kerry campaign come out and repudiate violence this election season. Think they'll do it?
With our children at our feet
And the morals that we worshipped will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and a shotgun sings the song....
I am not surprised at the behavior of the Union louts. However, it seems no one on the Democratic side seems to have come out to condemn the behaviorof these union goons.
Indeed, the only ones I've seen say anything at all seem to think it's funny.
In the end, James got his glasses smashed; Aaron took a punch or two, I got a scrape on my face and my knee – we all got roughed up a bit. In the end, it got broken up before anyone got really hurt. So to clear things up – I was not "beat up," we are all okay and we stood our ground after things calmed down. We did not retreat, we responded with stronger chants in support of Bush. All in all, I had a great time.
Hmmm. That's it?
Oh yeah -- there were FREEpers there that got beat up too.
Heh. Pussies.
Ara ate his intardnet spinach today.
Well Reynolds is saying they were beat up... In all seriousness, I wouldn't expect Kerry to denounce it unless called on. He's auditioning for the role of leader of the free world, and going around chastising people everytime someone gets roughed up a bit isn't his duty.
So Kerry has no duty to ask his followers not to be violent. Interesting. Well, at least he isn't egging them on.
But I would call punching people and breaking their glasses close enough to being "beat up" as to not quibble over it.
But why is it that I think that if this had been a group of Democrats attacked by goons, all of you partisans would be having conniption fits?
The difference between me and you guys? I'd be equally appalled either way. Which, once again, speaks volumes about the lows Democrats have sunk to.
God, you guys need a spanking. I somehow doubt you'll get it, but I've never seen a group of people more desperately in need of a collective spanking in my life.
All class, Ara; all class.
It's really impressive when steelworkers beat up on college students, isn't it?
Do you think they (or you for that matter) would have the same big, brass balls if those Bushies were Marines?
...(crickets chirping)...
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Casey,
I'm still stuck on the part (above) where Dean said he wanted to spank an iron-worker.
Heh.
Dean,
i think you are being a bit reactionary on this one, and this is coming from someone who can't stand Kerry. This statment seems about right: "In all seriousness, I wouldn't expect Kerry to denounce it unless called on."
I doubt he has even heard of any incidents like this.
There's enough stuff to criticize Kerry for that he is aware of - between this and the brain terminal post, we can't blame the Dem challenger for the bahavior of some of the moonbats that happen to be voting for him.
So Kerry can't be expected to comment on it. Fine. I can live with that. So WHERE THE HELL are the local Dimocrap politician's statements decrying this action? Where are the local union leaders at least apologizing for the actions of their followers?
Hello? Bueller? Ara? Anyone?
Those of you on the left that are at least marginally sane should remind those of you on the left that aren't, that the majority of gun ownership in this country is ON THE RIGHT, and heaven help you if you take this thing out of the arena of reasonable discourse.
Unlike lefties, Republicans and Libertarians are firm believers in personal weapons, self-defense, and Peace Through Excessive Firepower(tm), and I for one would like to see us just NOT GO THERE.
One of the union guys doing the screaming was using the fact that he was a union officer to prop up his argument. That argument being "Bush Sucks".
That's where the leadership is.
The Who's lyrics, from "We Won't Get Fooled Again", are put to supposedly explanatory use by all sorts of folks who dream of themselves in some vaguely defined future of unlimited violence and destruction. I'm not sure it fits a bunch of Boston college punks and union goons squabbling over the relative merits of two politicians at what passes for a street rally.
When street disorders get real, you'll all know it.

Ara: Dean wants to spank an ironworker? Damn, I missed that part! Heh.
This is just some dumb thugs using politics as an excuse to beat on the other side.
Ah, there it is! Ara, Dean doesn't want to spank ironworkers, he wants to spank you! (and marko, and shep, and Mark Adams...) Heh.
I stand with Dean (HAIL TO THE KING...!!!!) here. Once again, he is defending the liberal tradition in history, science, and philosophy, and, therefore, in politics. This is a classic case of mob rule vs. free speech. I stand with free speech.
"Give me the liberty to know, to utter, to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties."
-John Milton, "Aeropagitica"
"If all mankind, minus one, were of one opinion, and only one man were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing all mankind."
-John Stuart Mill, "On Liberty"
You're 100% right, Dean, can you imagine how big the news would be if a bunch of right-wing wackos had beat on some Kerry supporters? I bet the news wouldn't be relegated to the Blogosphere.
I don't know if this says more about the supposed bias of the mainstream media, or just a general acceptance on everyone's part that acting like trash is par for big-city union boys and therefor not newsworthy.
Heh.

I really don't know Dean that well, Casey. Suppose I could get him to talk to my wife ;-)
