You Know Why I Loathe These People?
Do you know why I loathe these people so much?
Because they distract from the very legitimate and valuable work done by these good people and these good people.
I periodically mention this as a reminder not just to Dean's World readers, but to other webloggers: when you criticize the bad guys, don't forget to mention who the good guys really are.
I don't know if you would necessarily consider www.consumerfreedom.com to be good guys, but they do fight against the bad ones.
Your aspca link has an extraneous '"'. But this PETA s*** strikes me as child abuse.
Yeah, but if the good guys won't condemn the similar-looking bad guys, I have to assume they're sympathetic, at the least.
A search for "PETA" at ASPCA returns no hits.
And before anyone objects, isn't this the same standard we apply to the ROP?
One of my major beefs with the environmental groups (and I regard PETA and such as just a subset or variant) is that the moderate ones won't condemn the radical ones. Fine, then we know where they stand.
I no longer give any of them a dime, and I used to give quite a lot.
Max: Noted and fixed, thanks.
DSmith: I must say, an organization like the SPCA, especially one with such a very long history, may well have a firm policy of not taking positions on political issues or on other organizations. Note, however, that on this SPCA page of other organizations, PETA is not listed although other organizations are.
PETA criticizes the SPCA, or has in the past. I wouldn't stop supporting them just because of this.
OK, the KFC bucket is pretty bad. But, what about Lisa Franzetta in her tiger outfit? If they stuck with things like that they'd get a lot more support.
Let's face it, the RSPCA aren't doing themselves any favours with stuff like this:
RSPCA: Fighting for Insect Rights
Well I loathe the PETA folks because my hunter buddies tell me PETA meat doesn't taste all that good, when you accidentally shoot one of them while your trying to do deer hunting, then broil them. But maybe if you were to saute them with onions, mushrooms and wine sauce, PETAburger would be more palatable.

I was going to jump in and say something funny, but then you get tired of bullshit all the time.
Don't these people have a life? Do they have children? A job?
God I hate bullshit, I really do.
My best friend fought in the battle of Okinawa in WW2, it was one of the fiercest fights in the pacific war.
It rained, and then it rained again, each side was dug in, the enemy in mountain caves, our side in trenches dug in the mud.
It rained, people died, cannon fire, rifle fire, all the weapons of close arms combat, knives, rifle butts...people died, not quietly, not with calmness, with their guts exposed and their life ending, they cried for their mother, some just cried then they died.
In the rain filled ditches our troups waited, days, weeks, then the rats came...eating the dead, they swarmed by the hundreds, eating the dead and swarming over the living.
He doesn't talk that much about it any more, we each had our time, his was ww2, mine was korea, I didn't have his hell, but I saw mine.
