Hey Liberals! (Rosemary, the Q.O.A.E.)

You may think I'm crazy. Or worse. That's cool. I feel the same way about a lot of you.

We hardly ever agree on policy and I'm glad. This site would be really dull if we all agreed. The debates between us are sometimes very passionate and sometimes really fun. Our debates always make me think and I really like that. That makes doing this blog really fun.

I just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate you. I really do.

Thanks!

P.S. Hey conservatives...
I totally dig you guys too!

Psst: Hey the guys in the middle, you know the independants! I like you guys way the best of all!

Okay I also like the libertarians. But not the Greens - they are just nutty.

HAIL TO THE QUEEN OF ALL EVIL!!!! HAIL TO THE QUEEN OF ALL GOOD!!!! HAIL TO THE QUEEN OF ALL!!!! AND HAIL TO THE KING!!!!

What about those of us kind of in the middle? Don't you love us? I'm deeply wounded.

And to think, I was going to write you in for President when I went and voted tonight.

Rosemary can't be President because she wasn't born here (correct me if I'm wrong, Rosemary). But why be a President when you're already the Queen?

I often cringe when I hear those of the far left and far right make their equally outrageous statetments- but usally the truth will be found somewhere in the center (well, actually just a bit right of center;-).

There must be the gadflies, the people who take an extreme view- because they make all of us think, and that is a very good thing.

You like us guys in the middle best of all? Hot damn!

Dani: obviously, since Ahhnold will one day be president, that little rule will be repealed. And mark my words, Ahhhhnold will be president one day. What Ahhnold wants Ahhhnold gets.

I'm so far to the Far Right I'm on the Far Left and so far to the Far Left I'm on the Far Right.

Conservative: for Conserving Eternal Values
Liberal: for Individual Freedom

The QOAE was born in the USA.

The first American-born in my entire family.

I can be POTUS.

Yeah, and I can buy some mango biscuits when I visit Ayers Rock! BTW, did you catch what the band played when Tom Hanks took the stage at the Oscars? I've been saying for three years at least that Tom Hanks WILL be President one day. Hopefully soon.

I stand corrected Rosemary- but I still think it's best to be Queen!

I seem to remember that your family is from Eastern Europe. My grandparents were Slovenian. If you ever wanted to post on how people from that area of the world feel about democracy in general and the US in particular, I would like to read it. I bet they have a little different take on it than, say, the French.

Dowingba- ha! In your dreams. But maybe not, I was already wrong about Rosemary once tonight ;-)

Tell them how you feel about James Carter the peanut farmer.

Posted by Tim the Soldier on March 02, 2004 at 10:08 PM

Is Her Majesty the only who is being asked their opinion of the bankrupt peanut farmer, Jimmy Carter? He was better at farming than at playing president. If Ford had not pardoned Nixon, he would not have won in 1976. You can thank Watergate for the fact that we bailed out a failing farmer in Georgia by giving him a lifetime pension.

Posted by Libertarian on March 02, 2004 at 10:23 PM

I think Carter is better at being ex-president than he ever was as president.

Do you have all your commenters categorically listed by political and ideological pursuasion? Where would the great civil libertarian, Nat Hentoff, go on that list?

This writer for the Village Voice is not popular with some due to his views on abortion. He gives an earlier time for when he sees personhood as beginning than some of the people who agree with him on other issues. He is truly a man of honor who has stood up for some that no one else would.

I am just curious, Your Most Evil Majesty, what statistic you would have for your faithful vassels here in Dean's World?

I voted earlier, got my "I Voted" sticker and wore it proudly.

I had an odd thought--again: If there is a separation between church and state, why do I always have to go to a church to vote?

Every polling place I have ever voted in has been a church except for when I lived in Anchorage and that was in a private home.

Where does everyone else go to vote? Does anyone else think about these things? Maybe I need a nap... Thanks Rose for the love...

We have no statistics. The Queen has no need for them. I judge everyone based on their individuality, not political affiliation or ideological persuasion. I like our commenters even when it appears I'm giving them heck.

I believe no affiliation or ideology has a monopoly on being right, wrong or an ass.

Don't make her mad, she was already boiling once today. Pleeeaaassseeee.....

Reminds me of that song lyric, "Stand on shakey ground..."

In one time in our history I would be a liberal, in another time a strong conservative. I believe in the constitution of these blessed United States. I believe in freedom and justice, I believe children should be free of fear and hunger.

I believe in goodness and laughter and happiness. I believe in love.

I belive in peace and I believe we must always have the mightiest military in the world to protect this nation so that we have a chance of keeping those things we hold dear.

I also know that many of my beliefs are hard to come by. Not all children can be free of those bad things nor can any of us always have the goodness and happiness we wish.

But we can work, at all times, in that direction.

What about us Whigs?!

Posted by Rob on March 03, 2004 at 3:03 AM

Rob, who do you agree with more, Lord Acton or Dr. Samuel Johnson, on who the first Whig was?

"Every polling place I have ever voted in has been a church except for when I lived in Anchorage and that was in a private home."

That's odd, where do you live? Every voting place I've been to in Maryland, Delaware, and Texas was a school or public library.

I admire Nat Hentoff for his stand in defense of the unborn -- _and_ his _consistent_ (yes, consistent!) defense of free speech.

While w're on the ever-fascinating subject of Left, Right, Liberal, Conservative, etc., etc., i.e., ideological spectrums/spectra, here's what may be my favorite spectrum of all the many I use, the Pournelle Axes:

Spectrums, spectrums, spectrums, spectrums, spectrums.... I love spectrums. Spectrums I do love.
