Black Holes

Yes, it appears that black holes really do swallow suns. It's been proven now.

Funny thing is, it wasn't all that long ago that Stephen Hawking was still trying to convince people that black holes actually existed.

Ah, but they may or may not have event horizons!

We won't know until we get a good unification of General Relativity and Quantum Theory, but higher resolution images of the object in question in the link piece could help point the way towards which theories are bunk and which are real contenders.

Is the question whether or not they have event horizons? I understand that an event horizon is the boundary, surounding a black hole, beyond which nothing can escape.

I thought the question was; what happens once you cross the event horizon?

It is the singularity that resists the application of General Relativity.

That's the impression I'm under. (Under pressure, ha, still got it....)

Swallowed 1%, spit 99%. I'm not a fan of that ratio...
