Coolest Airplanes Never Built

Via Gerund comes this neat web site: Fantasy Planes, airplanes that never made it much farther than the design stage, but are wonderful to look at nonetheless.

Makes you almost wish you lived in that future, doesn't it?

I've long been a fan of the Bel Geddes flying cruise ship, and have contemplated the building of a large scale (2-seater) Spruce Goose. Other folks take building such things more seriously.

Some folks call us crazy Dean. Imagining those planes really existed and zooming across another future's sky. But I can't help it fella. Under all my "thuggishness" is that little boy with his X-wing fighter in hand. :)

"Those magnificent men in their flying machines,
they go up uppity up, they go down downdity down."

(From the fictional handiwork of Red Skelton and the rest of the cast, circa 1965.)
