Well we have a fun little art collection going of the types of people who read books on politics.
The types we've identified are "The Open-Minded Reader," "The Refugee Reader," "The Guerilla Reader," "The Boomerang Partisan," "The Rage Addict," "The Bumblebee Reader," "The Daredevil Reader," "The 'Gimme That Old Time Religion' reader," and the "Stingy Hoarder reader."
Chris has a pretty good take on the rage-addict.
Brian Tiemann has four really good ones, although I'm not entirely sure which maps to which types. But I'm pretty sure this is the open-minded reader, that this is the refugee reader, that this is the guerilla reader, and that this is the rage addict.
All pretty darned good. I really like the rage addict. I know people just like that. (Not that I'm ever like that. Nope, not me, never....)
This is all pretty cool so far!
All four of those depicted in the cartoons are me, in one way or the other. Very good.
A B S O L U T E L Y!!!
They are really, really COOL!
Great work Dean, and you really cool artist!
I am the "Open-Minded Rainbow Coalition Guerilla."
I just stopped back by...Good one Mr. Soldier!
Oh how I get a kick out of reading this ahh, "Dean's World"! You people are hysterical. And I was just going to spend a few of MY Precious time reading YOU DEAN!
Why do you do this to people, I have ADDICTION issues.
These artist friends of yours and YOU for even coming up with the different reader personalities. I guess I am a bloogie fan of immense proportions, and ADDICTED to blogs with a crush on a few bloggers out there. Dang, anyone looking for a young fifty something wingle woman? I didn't say that!
Excuse my dancing fingers and mistakes when I post...just do it, forgive my mess at times. On Sundays all bets are off.
ADDICTED BLOGGIE FAN!
Yeah, the filenames are numbers that map to the reader types identified here: http://www.deanesmay.com/archives/006196.html#006196
I'll work on the rest now.. :)
Dean,
I think we can all fit into any one of the categories depending on the topic or the day. There are some things I am closed minded about, and some things I am open about, and some things I just don't care deeply about, but am willing to talk about.
Closed-mindedness is not necessarily a bad thing. There are some things we should be closed minded about, some things which are not negotiable. Some things should be seen as universally evil, or universally good. And it is actually desirable to be closed minded about those things.
There are other things we may see as desirable or undesirable, but allow room for disagreement.
And there are some things which are totally issues of personal preference and have no inherent "moral" value - e.g. "Should I wear a red tie or a blue tie today?
The difficulty is determining where to draw the lines between the different categories, because we do not all agree where the lines should be drawn. And there are some who believe there should be no lines at all. There are some who believe that ALL things are merely personal preference. It is these people that I believe are morally bankrupt.

Some I like more than others. But then, some were damned hard to visualize. :)
I think those are awesome Brian, I have some linked at my site. I think you should fill them in!
I may have to get someone else to help with coloring, since I have a tendency to ruin pictures by making the insides of people's mouths green and so on... :) Damn my rods and cones.
Thanks!
