There's Very Little Better For The Human Soul....

...than some good Live Zeppelin. Know what I'm saying?

That version of Moby Dick is worth the price of admission all by itself. Bonzo ruled, he really did.

My friend Ed, who isn't even a particularly big heavy metal fan, once observed the following: "This may sound funny, but there is no bad Led Zeppelin."

He was right.

(Thanks to Andrew for turning me on to this DVD.)

Going to California

Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going To California with an aching in my heart.
Someone told me there's a girl out there,
With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane,
Never let them tell you that they're all the same.
The sea was red and the sky was grey,
Wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.
The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake
As the children of the sun began to awake.

Seems that the wrath of the Gods
Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow;
I think I might be sinking.
Throw me a line if I reach it in time
I'll meet you up there where the path
Runs straight and high.

To find a queen without a king,
They say she plays guitar and cries and sings... la la la
Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn
Tryin' to find a woman who's never, never, never been born.
Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,
Telling myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems....

Yeah baby.

I absolutely love LZ; they are one of my all-time favorite rock groups, and IMO nothing can compare with Physical Graffiti. HOWEVER, their live performances, or at least the ones that I've seen and heard, really kinda suck...

You really need to buy that DVD, Cardeblu. It'll blow you away.

There's not much you can say about people who don't like LZ. Best you can do for them is keep them away from sharp objects and complex classical orchestrations.

BTW, Terry Teachout doesn't like Led Zeppelin. Think he needs a serious intervention?:)

Just for the record, Stairway to Heaven is one of the finest pieces of music ever composed. Anyone who says different knows bupkis about music.

If you like Led Zep, you need to check out Dread Zeppelin.

Imagine a black Elvis impersonater, leading a Led Zeppelin tribute band in singing all of Zeps hits reggae style.

Man, it is MUCH better than it sounds. Check it out.

I love Led Zep, but thanks to several FM rock radio stations overplaying their songs, it is extremely difficult for me to listen to their music now. Ocassionaly, some radio station will play one of Zep's obscure songs that hasn't been played to death, like "I'm Gonna Crawl", which is probably one of their best songs of the last half of their career.

Tortelvis rules! And what ever happened to the rest of Dread Zeppelin, like Charlie Haj, Jah Paul Jones, and Ed Zeppelin?

If you like Dread Zeppelin, you must check out Richard Cheese - Lounge Against the Machine. There is no way to describe his band - try getting his version of Stairway to Heaven, you won't regret it.

Like the lyrics to that song and Zeppelin has been around a long time! That's got to say something about this group...Legendary!

Ooh, my favorite Zep song has always been "battle of Evermore". I have Page & Plant, and its on that one , too, but man it just isn't the same without Sandy Denny.
